I am an atheist and have known it for a while.
I am not sure how my family will take it.
Everyone in my family is religious including my parents.
My mother is southern baptist and my father is Catholic.
I try not to blurt it out very often because people believe atheists are bad people.
I would like to call myself a decent person.
I am open minded
I help others
I voulnteer when voulnteers are needed.
My grandmother I think would die if I told her I was atheist.
I would probably be disowned from my entire family, everyone I know and love and not just that but the majority of my friends are catholic or mormon.
I don't know if I should tell them or if I should keep it a secret.
What do you think I should do?
Is there an easier way of telling them...
I don't know.
Any help would be appreciated.

why do people say that its a fake. why do people take God as a joke, when he is going to judge them on judgement day? its sad that america is considered a christian country, when its not even close. whats wrong with america turning gay????? its just not right. the Bible says that being gay is not right, its a sin. and from my point of view, it IS not right!!! gay, lesbian; its just not right. what, people have nothing to do, than to turn gay and lesbian? aMERICA is falling FAST!!! and the new dollar coin without the "In God We Trust" lettering. whats wrong with 21st century???? I remember a few years ago when JPII died and the cardinals were in the conclave voting for a new one.

Who was invited? Were all the Cardinals in the conclave, or just specific ones? If it is only specific ones, who chooses and how?

To make a long story longer: I exchanged gifts last year with two coworkers. This year, the one that I (and most other people in the office) really don't like just assumed we'd do it again. She's incredibly materialistic. For example--she emailed me a picture of her 9 ft. tall Christmas tree (and included how much she paid for it) and added that she'd have to get out the Kirby (an incredibly expensive vacuum cleaner) to get up the extra needles. She just bought a new house and had to throw in the price of all the appliances she bought. I gave a good friend/coworker of mine a donation to the HSUS (she's an animal lover) last year, and this other coworker turned up her nose and made some offhand comment. I got her (the coworker in question) some gourmet coffee and a cute coffee mug from Target, and the FIRST thing she did was flip the mug over to see who made it. Regardless of what I buy or how much I spend, it'll be money wasted and she won't appreciate it. continued...

I just got back from the grocery store. I bought a bunch of red bananas for a change. I broke one off of the bunch and noticed that it did not feel right in my hand. I looked at it and was horrified to realize that it only had four sides, not five! This totally contradicts Kirk Cameron "atheist nightmare" banana video! Is this the work of the devil?

I always hear arguements from both gay and straight people that a person's sexuality is nobody's business, but this only pertains to people who are gay - not straight. Why is this? This seems rather homophobic to me.

I love how our society deems it as 18 when very few 18 year olds are on their own at 18. I'd say I was 23 when I became an adult - although I'm still a big kid at heart anyway :-)

Ever had this experience or known of some people who connected at such a traumatic moment?

I was able to confirm this "connection" btwn a wife on the West Coast who "felt" her hubby's passing the instant it ocurred - received War Departments confirmation soon afterward. The hour at her home MATCHED the hour of the event that took his life (war situation).

What is your spin on this?
Is this an example of SOUL MATES ?

This has happened to me a few times, random strangers would say something racist and rude and it would be kind of out of the blue, and I wouldn't really expect it and don't know what to say. I would think of something really intelligent to say later, but by then it would already have been too late. I don't want to start a fight, but I also want people to know that I'm not a doormat and I don't appreciate being disrespected to. How can someone defend themself on the spot?

I have this one schoolmate in school that asked me what the chinese word chi-chi meant. I thougt he was talking about xie-xie which means thank you, but he wasn't. He said something about breasts, but I'm not too sure about it.

I am Muslim and Pakistani origin born in London mind you, but a lot of my (white) English friends are incredibly suprised that I am a virgin, is there something wrong with it? Do they even exist in English society for a woman in her early 20's to be a virgin-that is what they were implying. I am Muslim and we believe in relations after marriage.
