I really think that everyone struggles a lot with SOMETHING. There's something in everyone's life that they keep doing, keep trying with all their might NOT to do, and keep doing again. Satan loves to use that thing against us to make us feel like failures. You will fall... just KEEP GETTING UP. Keep giving it to God. It may get easier and it may not... that's life. God's there for you to help you through it, though. Satan loves to watch you beat yourself up.

Wait...
WHAT!?!
First off.. no weapon forged against us will stand. (Isaiah 54:17)
Here's how it was explained to me by my spiritual father.
When you repent, you're returning to the penthouse. The penthouse being the highest place/the best place. You have to renew your mind to think like God, but that's another story.
Just because you repent, doesn't mean the world around you automatically poofs and changes. Things that you did before you repented MAY catch up with you. If you killed someone (extreme, but a valid example), then you repent, that person will still be dead. Actions (once done) can't be taken back. Your actions set consequences in motion. As time progresses, you have to live through those consequences. There is a place where God gives us grace and restores something lost, but that's not always true. Like, if you're an alcoholic and you repent, there's a place where God will remove the need for alcohol from your mind and body. It's great, but that's grace. There are even times where God does a complete healing in the lives of people. But this doesn't teach you to conquer what controlled you.
Basically...
I count persecution and trails to be all joy. There's a saying... God doesn't help you out of a problem, but through it. Notice that even in Egypt, there was a requirement on the Israelites. They had to Trust in God for their deliverance. In the desert, they needed to trust in God for provision. In the end, God didn't deliver them out, but rather through the trials that made Israel a strong nation.
What ever is is you're enduring, count it all joy. You're being pruned and prepared to take victory in that place.

Satan doesn't have anything to say about it once they've been forgiven. That's kinda the point.

Oh,..ya, i see...he has you thinking he is bigger than you...you know...if you were to get a little "rude with him" and start telling him off once in a while..."literally"..and quit cowering..and make him do the "backing off"..you really would notice a differance! he really is a "wossie!" but, you have to find this out on your own....put your armour on and "get right into his face!" give him the biggest "what-for" he has ever heard! he will "tuck tail and "run!" "Word!" "Peace!' (in Jesus name of course!)

Satan won't ever let it go... you have to tell him in the name of Christ to get out of your face. "resist the devil and he shall flee from you"

You have to tell Satan, "I rebuke thee, Satan... now let me go!" and that ought to work for you!
