What's the difference?

2007-12-02 11:20:45 · 28 answers · asked by Cuddly W 3 in Religion & Spirituality

i have been a closet muslim for a year now (i converted after studying the Quran and Islamic theology...i'm a theology major), so far it's been easy for me to avoid pork, alchohol and to dress modestly. i conduct my daily prayers in the privacy of my room, and i still go to church with my family, so they have never suspected anything.

a few months ago i met a muslim convert like myself at a muslim students association. his family is jewish and his father has accepted his conversion. we've been getting to know each other and our relationship is developing into something really special.

i've been doing well as a closet muslim but i don't think i can stay in the closet any longer, especially if we choose to get married soon...how do i tell my parents? i've been going to church with them because i care about their feelings, but my heart has been firmly set into islam for the past one year?
any converts of any faith, how did u manage to convince your family? btw i'm 23.

You believe that you must be born again to be a christian.
So anybody who has believed in god and accepted Jesus as his/her saviour since childhood is NOT a christian in your eyes.
Do I have this correct?

I know this maybe weird. But when I go to a restaurant and I am going alone, I look for a nice group to sit with instead of having the hostess seat me alone.

I usually walk up to them ask ask if I may join them. Sometimes they have an uncomfortable look on their face. I have neve rbeen turned down though when I did this. Sometimes its a family or maybe its a couple.

I think its very neighborly to do this and you get to meet interesting people. My friends tell me its plain rude. If its rude, why don't they say no. I would love for someone to come and join me, even if I was on a date.

What do you think? Would you ever do this? On the other end, would you allow a young college-aged girl to sit with you and your party instead of sitting alone if she paid her way? I can't be the only one that does this.

I understand that there are very few of the heavenly class remaining (those left of the 144,000) Why do not the earthly class honor Christ by taking communion?

I would like scriptural reasons that they should abstain, please?

Christians evangelize because they truly believe that they are saving eternal souls, but I dont understand why atheists care one way or the other.

There are several examples like this one in the Bible. Christ's baptism, his prayer after he raises Lazarus from the dead, ect. Does this not suggest that Jesus Christ and God the Father are seperate beings? and that Jesus was the Son of God, not God himself?

Do any of the writers of the bible teach that we should go to Church on the Sabbath or on Saturday or on Sunday?

Please don't explain it to me. Just give me the bible reference and I will read it for myself.

This is a boring letter but can someone please take the time to translate this into L'italiano? Grazie! Please no babelfish or anything.

" I miss your smiling face so much! I hope you have been well, and have been staying out of trouble. I have been fine, but college is another world. If we can still work it out, I would love to come to europe this summer. I will have the money to buy a plane ticket in February. I want to fly to germany, and see Alina first. Her and I can travel to Italy a few days later. If is difficult for me to call you or her, so in the next month or whatever, can you both decide when you have time, so I can plan my trip? I am able to come after June 29, because that day is the highschool graduation.

To the nicest Italian mother in the universe:
Thank you a million for giving me the oppertunity to come and stay with you. This makes me very happy, and I am so excited!

I'm sorry our call was cut short a few weeks ago, my calling card ran out!

To get to it you go to Science&Math/Alternative/Paranormal. I know that some paranormal things don't fit in with Folklore and Mythology...so maybe you'd like to go there for questions of the paranormal type. It's kinda hidden. I found it accidentally.

I mean, really... eternal torture... that's so unnecessary.

If god doesn't approve of me, then just erase me from existence. Snap your fingers, or blink your eyes, or do whatever it is that you do and erase me.

The very idea of ETERNAL TORTURE is disgusting, and the fact that billions of people believe it's going to happen and don't have a problem with it just goes to show you how religion warps the mind.

I would say yes. Support your answers with examples. What is the one word thing that can help you distinguish between a fact and a belief? Knowledge is not enough.

And if you say yes, do the hardliners of Science have the right to blame religious people for their beliefs that are not supported by science?
