We as humans often wish those that offend us will go to such a place. Hell is a creation of churches to explain the tourtures you will face if you disobey 'The Church'. God is a loving being and all forgiving, they say, but if you do not obey the church then you will go to hell. Two seperate things made into one statement to make you obedient.
Your parents love you but if you are bad they have to punish you so send you to your room ( to think about what you did that was wrong, or a time out cooling off ) God uses Hell like that. It is a place where you have to face everything you did that was bad, wrong, hurtfull, 'as well' as feel the suffering your actions caused to others - you made your mother angry so you feel her anger and why she felt angry, you kicked the puppy so you feel the pain the puppy felt, it's confusion as to why you would kick and hurt it ,as well as it's love. All that takes time to feel and learn from, because you don't just experience it once but many times until you really understand. Some people have hurt a lot of people so they will have to feel every single person's pain that they caused.
The concept has been corupted into what we know of as Hell because people would not obey the early churches (etc)otherwise, and the Churches/ Synagogs/ Mosks/ Temples were the real rulers of the early Governments. Power corrupts and once in power no one wants to give the power up so Hell became a raging inferno - The rich could buy their way out of Hell of course, acording to the early Catholic church even though the Bible says differently. Each religon has their own version of hell and each one tells you that THEY are the only right way to God, not true, each has some answers, each one has good points and bad points, only God has all the answers.

Hmm...so you DO have a religious belief. Or at least agrees with religious beliefs and that is that Man is basically evil at heart. The original sin concept. Yes, and true Christians know and acknowledge that. It is the cornerstone of the faith in a way. The knowledge that all kinds of diver's lusts and sins come from within man. Like the bible says when it says that it is not what goes INTO a man (food, drink, thoughts) but what comes out of him. (Sin) And you have to face the truth and acknowledge it before you can even start to deal with it. That's why it also says, seek ye therefore the truth, and the truth shall set ye free.

If Christians think they are right then let's setup the same test that Elijah setup with the Baal worshippers to prove his God was the true God. For those of you Christians who don't know you're own Bible, i'm referring to 1 Kings Chapter 18. Take some wood, now pour some enormous amounts of water on the wood so that there's no way a fire could light it. Now pray to your God and ask him to answer you by sending fire to burn up the wood. I'll check back with you tomorrow and I'll sure I'll be saying these words to you just like Elijah was mocking the Baal prophets. "Maybe your God is occupied or on a journey, or perhaps he's asleep and needs awakening". I'm sure you know and I know your God will not answer.

when the first missionaries arrived in the Antarctic they had to teach people that Hell was a frozen waste land that never had any warmth so that people wouldn't want to go there.
in all actuality, hell is a state of mind. in the bible it teaches that Adam and Eve were cast from the presence of God and throughout the scriptures we are taught that if we sin we can't return to be with God. When we die we will be judged on what we did and if we were bad people and didn't follow those things that God asked us to do then we will not be allowed into heaven with him. we will be able to see heaven and that will be our hell, knowing that we could have been there.
Have faith my dear brother, God is mindful of you and if you repent, you to may have all that he has.

there was a fallen angel who was jeous of god. he went his own way to make his own "kingdom" were people who hate God (like him) can spend eternity away from God thats the real punishment. God gives people free will and they can decide for yourself if you want God in your life. God wants all of us, but they have ot want him. He forgives us from our sins and that because jesus gave his life for people who want to be with god. Oh sorry this is so hard to expelan in a paragraph. I think you should read it for yourself.

I wonder what the concept of Hell would be if all this was begun in an age of super technology, not from thousands of years ago?

God will never interfere with free will. It's all about choices.
You are focused on the negative parts. Having a relationship with God maybe a hard pill for some to swallow, the fact that He loves us , our creator and wants us close to Him. I choose life.
I couldn't imagine an existence without God. That is hell!

Your definition of "eternal torture" probably has NOTHING to do with the reality of what hell is.....eternal separation from God.
At any rate, if this is the excuse you happen to choose to use against God, that's your choice.

What's your question? If you expect an answer, you need to ask a question.....not make a statement.
But for your information, the Bible doesn't teach "eternal torture." God is going to destroy evil and everything attached to it one day....he's warned us plenty. He's going to make a big bonfire of everything evil, and if human beings will not separate from evil, they will be BURNED UP, reduced to ashes. If you want to avoid being burned up, get away from the fire.
