I'm seriously asking this question because it seems that there are so many answers that users leave that are belittling, and do not help the asker what-so-ever.

So, I put this honest question on the table...why don't you answer the question as it was asked? Why add an offensive opinion? Why be animus?

I just started the divorce papers... he didn't cheat or anything but he was emotionally abusive and became very controlling and I tried and tried for over a year to make him get help and what not.... but obviously he didn't. He said he didn;t want to remain married to me anyways.. he wanted to do his own thing... Heres the thing, I am a strong christian and I know that god doesn't look well on divorce, but was I supposed to live a life like that? I talk to god and pray and read his words but I have such a fear that he is angry.... yet I am at such peace now that my husband is gone. Was I wrong?

The church has been split into 2 groups- the old and new members. The old members finds the new senior pastor to be deceitful, and a two-faced liar (which is very true). Now the pastor has recruited the new members of the church to be on "his side" and try to kick out the old members. (These members have been attending the church for 10+ years and the new members have only been for 2- years). There is also a person who has attended the church for less than 2 years who "helps" the pastor get away with things like taking out money from the bank to raise the pastor's income. There is a "meeting" within the pastor and "his side" of the people in which they discuss aka gossip about the old members and how to kick them out.
The old members have already tried to discuss with the director and the bishop of the main United Methodist Church but every time there is a meeting between the pastor and bishop, the bishop falls for the pastor's cover up lies. A church should not be this way

Our religions have the same heredity. The same people that wrote the bible and koran (sorry for inaccurate spellings) are the same people that waged war on others in the name of religion. WHY? WHY? WHY? The point I'm getting at is why is so much faith being put in literal traslations of texts and not in simple concepts like STOP KILLING PEOPLE and BEING JERKS!!!!!

And there are not specific mentionings of these types of relations?
In Genesis 18, God informs Abraham that he plans to destroy the city of Sodom because of its gross immorality. Abraham pleads with God not to destroy Sodom, and God agrees that he would not destroy the city if there were 50 righteous people in it, then 45, then 30, then 20, or even ten righteous people. The Lord's two angels only found one righteous person living in Sodom, Abraham's nephew Lot. Consequently, God destroyed the city.
.
immorality (noun)
1. the quality of not being in accord with standards of right or good conduct

Now, about this time the Sodomites, overwhelmingly proud of their numbers and the extent of their wealth, showed themselves insolent to men and impious to the divinity,

Here's my take on banning people from Yahoo.
I am an Evangelical Christian, and I see lots of opinions on this board that I strongly disagree with. But I also believe in free speech, for everyone. I feel really strongly about this, and I think the other Christians here need to demonstrate some maturity about this.
I don't ever 'report' someone for stating an opinion I disagree with. I don't even give them a 'thumbs down' if they're simply being honest about their opinion. And (curse me if you want for being an absolutist) I think everyone should do the same. People have a right to their opinions. I do think the 'report' feature has a purpose, and I have reported out-right obscene answers, though I have never tried to get anyone booted off. If there are Christians out there who are targeting people you disagree with— STOP! You don't further your cause by being a sneak and a cheat. What do you guys think?

Conversation starter only:

I realize this is not technically a "R&S" question, but it's one for which I want to hear answers from Christians:

When, exactly, did this culture of "superstardom," your "fifteen minutes (seconds?) of fame" and the "cult of personality" become so mainstream?

More to the point, what would you say is the proper Christian response to it?

To further elaborate, why should a Christian follow every twist and turn in the latest drama in the lives of Angelina Jolie; Paris Hilton; Oprah; 50 Cent, or whomever the latest media darling might be?

As a Christian, I know that, ultimately, like all mankind, they will stand before God to be judged. I know their celebrity status will mean nothing.

I also know it's not a "sin" to read about the latest trip to rehab for Britney/ Lindsay etc., but honestly, do you pray for these poor lost souls, ignore them or, like the rest of the world, just stand on the sidelines like voyeurs into their life tragedies?

im talking about people who have millions and billions of dollars for being in movies or singing stupid songs. isnt it selfish when there are millions of people living in poverty and people that can't get an education. especially the dumb lady that left 12 million to her dog. honestly do something good for the world. there are people in every country in this world that need help. instead of having their ca-ching sit in the bank waiting for them to spend it on expensive cars and $500 dollar shoes, shouldn't they be good enough people to actually think about others?

akin to Christianity, or do most subscribe to the theory of evolution. Every pagan I have met believes in the theory of evolution, was wondering if there were some gods/goddesses who handed down information about a literal creation to describe our origins as opposed to Darwin's theory. Please, no jerk responses, just the facts ma'am :)

This is just an untrue statement, as morality can be and is legislated, for example saying that murder is illegal, etc. How can people make the argument that you "can't' legislate morality?

Okay, so there's a teacher who really tries all of our nerves. He's unfair and mean sometimes, yet can twist the truth and your words around until you don't remember what you were talking about. I have treated this teacher with nothing but respect since the day I joined his class, but after four years of this, I'm sick of it.

I know the right and honorable thing to do would be to stick up for my friends, and defend them when the teacher is in the wrong, but I'm afraid that the conflict will become disrespectful. What do I do?
