Okay, so there's a teacher who really tries all of our nerves. He's unfair and mean sometimes, yet can twist the truth and your words around until you don't remember what you were talking about. I have treated this teacher with nothing but respect since the day I joined his class, but after four years of this, I'm sick of it.
I know the right and honorable thing to do would be to stick up for my friends, and defend them when the teacher is in the wrong, but I'm afraid that the conflict will become disrespectful. What do I do?

Don't think of this person as much as your teacher, but as a real person. Someone who is arrogant, self-centered, puts others down, and bosses people around. Unfortunately, this person has taught you a valuable lesson very early in life. that is that you will deal with jerks like this for the rest of your life. people you work with, parents of your kids friends, your kids teachers, the everyday jerks that you meet at businesses, over the phone, etc. You have already done well to hold your tongue, and grin and bear it. Remember, you will run into so many people like this that you will eventually have your chance to tell one of them how horrible of a human being they are, but for now, just realize, you are the better person for not losing your temper and patience. You are going to reach your goals, and be rewarded in life by learning to pick your battles and know that battleling with someone that could lead to bad consequences is not a good idea. No matter how satisfying it may be. Plus he would probably just treat you like you didn't know what you were talking about and frustrate you even more so he's not worth it. good luck, and hang in there.

do you value the teacher more than your friends? this person has no right to harass the class so if hes doing it then call him on it. He might not be happy but if you've been loyal thus far and hes noticed he might take you more seriously. You can be boldly polite about it too "excuse me Mister...but thats not very nice, I'm here to learn not to be put down or see my classmates treated the same way" I don't know what kind of class this is but if he gives you any grief I dare you to get up and leave.

Great question. Here is what I would do. Instead of openly disagreeing with your instructor, talk to him privately. Tell him what you have witnessed and express to him what he had done is wrong and give him the reasons why. Approach him respectfully. You will reach him more this way than if you openly clashed with him in front of the class.
If this doesn't work, then you may need to involve more people like his supervisor or a school counselor, etc.

It is a shame this teacher is such a so and so, get a group together and go speak to the school councillor or the head teacher. Do not try to deal with him yourself.
