Here's my take on banning people from Yahoo.
I am an Evangelical Christian, and I see lots of opinions on this board that I strongly disagree with. But I also believe in free speech, for everyone. I feel really strongly about this, and I think the other Christians here need to demonstrate some maturity about this.
I don't ever 'report' someone for stating an opinion I disagree with. I don't even give them a 'thumbs down' if they're simply being honest about their opinion. And (curse me if you want for being an absolutist) I think everyone should do the same. People have a right to their opinions. I do think the 'report' feature has a purpose, and I have reported out-right obscene answers, though I have never tried to get anyone booted off. If there are Christians out there who are targeting people you disagree with— STOP! You don't further your cause by being a sneak and a cheat. What do you guys think?

I agree with you, I only reported someone once because they were asking an OBSCENE sexual question, I have never reported anyone for having an opinion that I disagree with. I am a Christian and I have seen some stuff that I really don't like on here as far as religion goes, but I just leave it alone and only thumbs down when someone is name calling or being blatantly mean.

I mean aren't we on YA to see what other people think?

i must admit that you are right to what you are saying. The individual has a very GOD given right to express their own opinion. We want to be the light at the end of the tunnel and not only in the tunnel but in the open as well. People have been crucifying christiandom for years but we as a people have survived the riddicule and adversities. Where our LORD has given us all the ability to chose. We may not chose the same as they but the word does say that "many are called but few are chosen" we havee ro remember that they are the few. They are those put as stumbling blocks to the Body of CHRIST. We have to be able to move on to a dimension in THE LORD.

THE LORD said "let him that have an ear let him hear the word of THE LORD" The word for the year is Deut 1:6-11 and 2Cor 9:8-11. Let us be people of "Good Measure, Pressed Down, Shaken Together. and Running it Through.

We are a people of " All Works, All Grace, All Things, All Sufficient and Every Good Work.

there are plenty of peekers in the Kingdom. They want to try to still our joy. But we should make sure we read the answers to the questions before we answer next just in case there is a person who want to assassinate our culture and address it, just in case there is a non-believer who is seeking the WORD OF THE LIVING LORD.

I am a Messianic Believer and a Prophet of THE MOST HIGH. Shalom.

I totally agree, the only time I report someone is if they insult someone personally, and it basically has to be obscene. People can ask all the stupid questions they want and it doesn't bother me. I like to play along with the fun questions, e.g. Chuck Norris. I don't ever report someone just because I disagree with them. I have known too many people that have had their accounts deleted for basically no reason at all. I think Yahoo needs to take a good look at someone before they delete their account. This automated thing sucks.

It's not only Christians who are doing the reporting, mate.

There are people ( I suspect from all quarters) who seem to get their entertainment from it - not necessarily by reason that they disagree with what is being said. Seems there are stalkers, clones, thumbs down fairies, thumbs up fairies, reporters, trolls and troll patrols.... and then there are those who prefer to ask, those who prefer to be a respondent, those who like it both ways... and I guess those who like to watch.

It's a parody of reality... with it's own community laws, privately orchestrated police department and appeals tribunals.

What we often neglect to appreciate is that it is orchestrated by a company listed on the share market and whilse we pay nothing.. those little advertisements that appear when you mention "apples" for example... are paid for by someone who doesn't want its potential customer base eroded by reason of the violations system.. but it doesn't want the same potential customer base driven away by offensive behaviour either!

So don't think for a minute that Christian trolls or Christian report trolls have any power whatever!

I agree. That's part of the purpose and fun of yahoo answers, even though there are definatly answers i disagree with. There are even often times when people say things that really hurt me personally, attacking my religion without doing any real research really bugs me, but it's a good opportunity to practice forgiveness, right? Since this is not exclusively a Christian forum, i don't think we have the right to report underhandedly just out of a sense of self rightousness

I agree 150%--you are a smart man.

I never give a thumbs down for an honest and respectful opinions, either, even if they totally contradict my belief. That's the whole purpose of visiting Y!A--to get answers and a lively, educational debate. It's not to harass and belittle other people (well, that might just be a lot of people's reason for visiting.)

I do give a thumbs down to mean-spirited, hateful comments--sometimes. Most times, I don't even bother

I have to agree with you on this .and theres no denying the fact ,that the Christians on here are the worst offenders .I`m well aware that its not ALL the Christians who do it but it reflects on them all and shows Christianity in a very bad light
i think some people don`t grasp what report abuse and Thumbs up/down are for .i answered a question today asking what Atheists pray for and i couldn`t believe someone got a thumbs down because his answer was "Atheists don`t pray"

(1) I am Christian

(2) I am a mathematician/scientist

(3) I support freedom of speech

(4) I also expect responsibility for (3)

(5) The only time that I click "report it" is when someone is being obscene or immature for the sake of making noise

(6) I ALWAYS tell the person I have or am reporting that I'm doing so. Builds up a LOT of hate e-mail, but that's THEIR problem and not really mine. Want to be treated as an adult? Act like one.

Otherwise, yeah, I agree with you.

If a baby is sufficiently previous to understand what's "down there", then there could be no harm finished..... if a baby isn't sufficiently previous to understand a similar, they'd or will possibly no longer ask questions, wherein oldsters can say, you will understand once you're older. No, i do no longer think of banning it is going to resolve the actual subject concerns that our young babies are dealing with recently. have faith me, they are going to study plenty extra advantageous than you like them to while they get into the common public college device. case in point: while my oldest entered into the 2d grade, he became given very specific information of what intercourse became between a guy and a woman, advised to him by using his classmate. He got here homestead so excited to tell me approximately it proper? For the main area, he had the fundamentals down pat; only concern became, it incredibly is not the spinal twine which you stick in! LOL BTW..... i assumed it became outstanding!

Jesus was not a sneak and a cheat. We are not being conformed to his image by reporting others because we disagree with their view.
I might add that those who are cheating by having multiple accounts to choose their own best answers are not walking as Jesus would. It is very obvious that many are doing just that and it makes Christians look like liars and cheats!!!
