My sources say it is less likely that it will end, more likely it will be dramatically altered. It seems that on that date a vote (as it were) will be taken and one of 2 things will happen. Either those who vote for a world of peace and beauty will find it and those who vote for armageddon (and by voting, I mean their attitude and belief will determine which group they are in) will get that - or the vote will be taken and we will all have to live with the popular choice. Or course I heard 12/12/12.

Peace!

No culture predicted the end of our existence on that day. No, though it is a date of vast scientific and cosmic significance, and those who write if off most likely have not studied the date, though I must say no culture outrightly predicted the end of the world on this day.

December 21, 2012 is the day that we will complete a very rare solar alignment, an alignment 26,000 years in the making to be exact, where our Earth will be directly aligned with the sun and the Milky Way Galaxy. This will create electro magnetic energy, and thus solar flares, like we have not seen in modern times.

Best case scenario we will only have minor power problems in a limited scope. Solar flares do not need an alignment to cause electrical problems, the last time this happened was in 1988, though again, this is nothing compared to the event that will happen in 2012. These possibilities are scientific fact, in addition to these, there are many theories about other things that might happen with the massive amount of energy flowing through our solar system, but again, speculation, though some is based on evidence, we have never seen this alignment occur, so we can not be sure.

The strange thing is is that modern scientists have just found out about this alignment in the last 100 years, but not only the Maya, but several other ancient cultures, were already keen of this date 1,500 years ago. How they figured out this information without the use of modern technology is quite puzzling, but I don't like to speculate. The most puzzling however, is the Ancient Chinese calender, dating back about as far as anything we have in existence, around 5,000 years, which when broken down, also points to the exact date.

These go far beyond the realm of coincidence, but I'm not a superstitious man. Though I do recognize, after study (something it seems the majority don't find important), that this is an interesting date, as does most of the scientific community, I will not make any guesses as to what could possibly, or might possibly happen.

This date has nothing in common with Y2K,which was the result of widespread misconceptions, not any evidence.

can not say it is going to end like growth and the earth is long gone, yet there is particularly some type of catastrophic stuff thats gonna ensue. besides the ending of the Mayan calendar, the Incans and Hopi Indians, the I-Ching, the Bible, different civilizations or maybe freakin NASA has observed issues which will ensue for the period of that twelve months, if not specially on that date. Theres going to be a extensive image voltaic typhoon (circulate to nasa internet site) & the final one we had in 2001 grew to become into minor yet nonetheless knocked out cellular telephones and satellites so this one is envisioned to be even bigger and can probably reason the earths poles to shift that's the frightening area, tsunami's earth quakes, important hurricanes. i may be arranged for that twelve months particularly.

I don't think anyone can possibly know when the world will end. Having said that I really don't think December 21st, 2012 would be the end.

Maybe, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I kind doubt that that will be the day. The Bible states that no one knows the day the world will come to an end except for God and God alone.

No. Nobody except God knows when the world will end. Many people have been wrong before and this will be just another group of people who are wrong. What happens when our calender ends, we start a new calender and new year, same with mayan calender, we will just start the calender over again.

F some one dies, it is the end of world. If you may die on this date, it should be the end of world, otherwise it shall continue till the purpose of creation is fulfilled.God has not created anything without purpose and without an ultimate age/life.

Possible, everythings possible. Get the pressure off the A-Bomb at the precise second. Bin, Bin Laden Is that You?

Read the signs. The Bible says someplace.

No man knows the day , not even I , Jesus said. 'Only my Father in Heaven..'

I notice that NOBODY asked this question in 1999. Some people just can't enjoy life without a doomsday conveniently nearby.
