And there are not specific mentionings of these types of relations?
In Genesis 18, God informs Abraham that he plans to destroy the city of Sodom because of its gross immorality. Abraham pleads with God not to destroy Sodom, and God agrees that he would not destroy the city if there were 50 righteous people in it, then 45, then 30, then 20, or even ten righteous people. The Lord's two angels only found one righteous person living in Sodom, Abraham's nephew Lot. Consequently, God destroyed the city.

Why? Because they are filtering scripture through their own bias, and not through the love that Christ teaches?

God did NOT destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because of homosexuality. Read the story again, and start with the Angels visiting Abraham in the previous chapter.

The story of Sodom’s destruction is an example of being inhospitable to strangers – and God says we’re to welcome, protect and care for aliens among us. The homosexuality issue arose AFTER God decided to destroy Sodom. And when people are quoting the story of Sodom and Gomorrah and wanting to wrongly blame homosexuals – read the story closely, and see EXACTLY what the people in Gomorrah did wrong - mistreated STRANGERS.

There are just six or seven passages in both OT and NT that deal with homosexuality. In fact, Jesus didn’t say anything about homosexuality, but he said a lot of about lust, and sins of the flesh.

Homosexuality isn't a sin.

Sex out of marriage is the sin.

So for our brother and sister hypocrites who are down on gays, every one of them better be married or virgins, or they are just as sinful as their gay brothers. And if you have your own splinter in your eye, then you really shouldn’t be telling homosexuals about the splinter in their eyes.

It's just easier to attack the homosexuals who are hiding in a church, rather than the couples who are openly probably committing sins by having sex out of marriage.

By the way – people who say things like “hate the sin, love the sinner,” or “God hates . . .” have a very different idea of who God is. God so loved the world, that he sent Jesus.

When we use words like ‘God’ and “hate” in the same sentence, we allow hate into our minds and into our hearts – and that’s not what Jesus taught us to do. God loves the world, and that’s what Jesus tells us to do, so that’s how we should live. It’s that simple.

Godspeed.

I hope this answers your question. When the population called to Lot to give the two angels over to them so that they might "know them" referrs to them being sodomized. Lot offered his two daughters in the angels place. Your right about their immorality they were as nasty as can get. But that is why they came up with the words sodom = sodomized. That 's why most of us people would think gays =sodomized =Sodom.

You read a biased article by someone that selectively chose Bible verses to support a point that can't be supported by the truth.

Read the complete chapter.

The two angels appeared in Sodom as men and stayed the night with Lot.

The citizens of Sodom came to Lot and demanded that he send the strangers out so that they could rape them.

"In Gen. 19, when God decided to overturn and destroy the five cities of the plain, he sent angels to rescue Lot and his family. The men of Sodom sought to rape (in some translations, meet) the angels (19:5). Lot offers the men his daughters instead, who he says are virgins (19:8), but the men are not interested." (Wikipedia)

The Quaran says: "The Qur'an does say that when the men continued their ways of homosexuality, he offered his daughters' hands in marriage. And his people came rushing towards him, and they had been long in the habit of practicing abominations. He said: "O my people! Here are my daughters: they are purer for you (if ye marry)! Now fear Allah, and cover me not with shame about my guests! Is there not among you a single right-minded man?" [Qur'an 11:78].

“ And (remember) Lout (Lot), when he said to his people: "Do you commit the worst sin such as none preceding you has committed in the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns)?"
"Verily, you practise your lusts on men instead of women. Nay, but you are a people transgressing beyond bounds (by committing great sins)." And the answer of his people was only that they said: "Drive them out of your town, these are indeed men who want to be pure (from sins)!" Then We saved him and his family, except his wife; she was of those who remained behind (in the torment). And We rained down on them a rain (of stones). Then see what was the end of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.)." (Wikipedia)

well, it's a common deflection tactic to accuse others of what you yourself are guilty. and if self righteous gay bashing Fundies ain't closeted gays in denial they're likely guilty of some of the other sins for which those immoral twin cities were punished. it's just more advantageous to seek to remove the mote from the eye of a gay person than to remove the plank from their own eyes.

PS. yep, Lot was sure a "moral" man, a father ready to hand his virgin daughters over to a raping mob. and it was his wife that got turned into a salt lick. go figure. the Bible god sure has some weird morality criteria.

Maybe you need to read chapter 19. In verse 5, the men of the city surround Lot's house. it says "They called out to Lot and said, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Send them out to us so we can have sex with them!" Lot went out to them at the entrance and shut the door behind him. He said, "Don't do this evil, my brothers."
You don't have to say the word 'gay' or 'homosexual' to understand what these Sodomites were trying to do. Even Lot told them that what they wanted to do was evil.
Granted, there was a great deal of other wickedness going on in Sodom, but there is a reason we use the word sodomy for homosexuality. It wasn't just by chance. That was the lifestyle of the people God destroyed there.

Please continue reading. In Chapter 19:4&5. The MEN of Sodom called to Lot and asked where are the MEN that came with you tonight? Bring them out that we might KNOW them CARNALLY. CARNALLY by defination means SENSUAL. And SENSUALLY means what? You know what it means and so do I. If two men are sensual or sensually involved with eachother what does that mean? Again, we know what it means and the words homosexual, (in todays lingo)-gay, unnatural, all fit.

I think a more important question would be, why is it that the varying gay villages in major cities around the world haven't been destroyed by Ol' Jehovah?

I've never understood the inference of homosexuality from "that we may know them". A guy brings two strangers into a city in the dead of night, and the people of the town demand that they be brought out so they can figure out who the hell they are, exactly. It seems pretty sensible to me.

i think these people are very confused regarding the story of lot. those men were not engaging in homosexual love. they were set to rape those angels without regard to their sex. that's a whole different thing.

to say that gay marriage is wrong because, in the bible, there is a story about some men who wanted to rape some angels, is a gross misrepresentation of the truth and is referenced out of ignorance and hatred.

The bible does make it clear in related verses that homosexuality was one of the "sins" of the people in those cities...but I agree, it certainly wasn't the limit of their sins. Elsewhere in the bible, it does make it clear that homosexuality is a mistake...and in even more places, it makes it clear that a whole bunch of other forms of sexuality are also mistakes (e.g., adultery, fornication)...Jesus identifed "lusting in your heart" as being the same as adultery...and somewhere else it says that hating your brother is the same as killing him.

The simple fact is that all people struggle with sexual issues...it is well past the time for Christians to stop condemning homosexuality as somehow worse than any of the other sexual (and other) issues we all struggle to resolve. The bible tells us that gluttony is a sin...but I don't see people condemning fat people to hell. Adultery is a sin, but I don't see people leading crusades to have a teacher who cheats on her spouse permanently removed from the classroom in the name of protecting the children (unless of course she did it with a student!).

I used to think that it wasn't accurate to label people "homophobic" just because they expressed their belief that homosexuality is a sin. However, I've come to realize that the term is unfortunately accurate in many (but not all) cases. Fear is the only possible explanation why someone who believes God forgives sins would react defensively (or hatefully) to someone elses' sin.

I won't sugar-coat the truth, homosexuality is a sin. However, it is logically inconsistent to declare that God can forgive me for all of my sins and then deny that opportunity to someone else because of their sin. I wouldn't want to go head to head with many of the gay people I've known in a "who sinned the most" contest...I'd lose. The simple fact is that ALL have sinned and that sin has caused harm to ourselves and to others. We have all been hurt by ignoring the advice of God about what is good and what is not good for us.

Jesus showed us that we don't have to worry about being the "sin police" any more...that he wanted to help each of us deal with our own sin...up close and personal. Christians need to remember that Jesus told us the two most important commandments were to love God and to love each other. God knows that only through that love can others be brought to a place where he can begin to heal their wounds and help them to deal with their own sins. Christians need to stop being afraid that the sin of homosexuality will influence them and instead start realizing that the love of God is far more powerful than the threat of sin!

If you read all of the story you will note that the people of the city demanded that Lot give the two male strangers over to them so that they could sexually attack them.. Showing the Old Testament lack of value for women Lot offers his daughter to them as a substitute.. but they wanted male on male sex... therefore the inference.
