And why doesn't the Church follow this policy today?

However, today the God concept in Abrahamic religions is often one of a truly loving and benevolent being.

When did this God become associated with love and benevolence? Has this always been the case?

We live in a nice, safe neighborhood which has become the #1 spot for Trick or Treating in our area. Police are on hand to direct traffic, children and adults arrive by the car/van load and some hire and decorate flat bed trucks and load it up with children. This is a very well behaved group and there are few problems and I have never heard of any vandelism. With good weather, I can expect about 400 groups to come to my door. In past years, I have started in late August getting goodies bagged up to hand out. It bothers me that I don't know these children, they are not from our neighborhood and many are not even from our town.

This year I have not made up the goodie bags. I will be filling up plastic pumpkins with treats and delivering them early in the day to the neighborhood children that I know and see almost daily. Does this seem reasonable? Some of my neighbors say they really enjoy the evening, but I have noticed that more than a few are "dark" on Halloween.

however, my husband isn't so much. Naturally this is because when he was growing up his parents thought that by allowing him to access porn/pornographic images freely they would prevent him from turning out "gay"or a"sissy". I understand that they only let him do those things because they thought it was in his best interest. Since I am against it (and grew up in a home where such things were taught to be wrong) we sometimes come into conflict over things like a racy picture on his computer monitor. He's not obsessed with it but I feel hurt that he regards women that way(and that many allow themselves to be regarded with such little respect and as objects)."That's someone's daughter" is what my parents used to say. I think that too many women (sometimes men) allow themselves to be sexually exploited to a ridiculous extent. I just want some better arguments than just what I was taught. I know in my heart that what I believe is true but he's so stubborn. Thanks for any pointers!

and that he must have something else to ten to besides us Genesis 6:1
"AND God remembered Noah, and every livling thing, and all the cattle was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged:"

If he "remembered" then he must have forgot about him, or been sidetracked by something else...so then god can't "always be watching" like people say

"Of courese not" Christians will say, you have a choice. You mean like the choice I had to be born, to see suffering, agony misery, death, war, poverty and Prejudice. If Mohammed were alive he too would be a biggot and neither would ever be allowed U.S. Citezenship because we do not allow KINGS into this country to rule and dominate THE PEOPLE. But Christians would use their religious views based upon a discriminatory manuscript to try and rule the U.S by placing their belief sysrem into the political fore-front. We as a nation recognize That We The People, in order to create a more perfect union agreed to The Constitution after having fought for our DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, and yet you Religious Losers would have us return to the days of KING RULE. Your God is a KING, and WE ESCAPED monarchial rule. Therefore to be RELIGIOUS is ANTI-AMERICAN. Keep your religious views out of our government or know that you will see AMERICA CRUCIFIED! Did you see Russia sign with Iran? GOD?

Can anyone recommend something for us to do on Christmas day? Will anything be open or is it shut down for the festive period?

It is important as Christians for us to examine atheist arguments as it strengthens our faith. Here is one:

Atheists attack Christains for saying that God answers our prayers with yes, no, and wait and that this is NO proof of God because if you prayed to a milk jug, you would get the same type of results.

Example: You really need money to pay bills and bankruptcy is not an option at the moment so you pray for help to a milk jug.

1. The Yes answer: A relative could immediately come and help bail you out making you think the milk jug instantly answered your prayer
2. The No answer: The help never comes
3. The wait answer: The money eventually comes but not first without some hardship.

Here's the rebuttal:

God answers our prayers through "yes", "no" and "wait" because He realizes that sometimes the things that would be best for you NOW, would NOT be good for you in the long run and sometimes you do need something, but NOT at the current moment.

they didn't believe in creationism even after "learning" about it?Obviously if creationism ever would be taught it would be based on the Abrahamic religions. How would students be graded if they had other beliefs about creation that were not Abrahamic?Would students be allowed to sit out and not lose their grade averages if they were part of a non Abrahamic religion? What would stop teachers from abusing their ability to teach their pesonal beliefs to students who don't want to learn about religion or beliefs that do not coincide with their own?How is creationism even considered education?Part of learning is knowing that what we learn is open to new ideas and is generally supported with evidence.Creationism is not open to or supported with either.

i believe its absouletly wrong.
God Created Men & women to be together.
not same sex.
i dont understand why anyone would want to be gay in the first place.
homosexuality is a sin.

but we're called to love the person,
not his or her lifestyle.

Christians say they have morals... I think they do. But maybe they do the right thing sometimes for fear of being punished by god if they don't. Athiests also have morals yet we fear no eternal spanking from the skydaddy. We do the right thing because it's the right thing. Does that make us more moral?

IMO, both can make the simplest of things complex through the words and processes they use. Other than the sciences which are inherently difficult, no mainstream profession besides these two are guilty. It's no wonder the US spends more for our legal and education systems than other nations while getting less for the money.

The evidence for a creator is everywhere. Just look all around you. How do you think we got here? Through chance?

Life is far too improbable to come about by chance. Look at how complex life is. How can a brain form from nothing? You wouldn't expect a computer to just form.

This is why I believe in Jesus and the Bible. He is my savior. I was a sinner, but He washed away my sins and He will make me clean for Heaven.

I hope I have at the very least given doubters something to think about.

God bless.

Is there a religion whose main precept is sincerity and complete sincerity?

I was going to invent it and call it Nakedism, but I dunno bout that. There's probably already an existing religion that teaches what I believe in.

I believe that truth = freedom. And that complete sincerity is the closest thing we humans can do to be truthful.

So I am just wondering how many people use these new text messaging type slang words in their every day life?

Obviously, with most straight people not having to come to terms with their sexuality, this is aimed more at lesbians / gay people. How long did it take to you to come to terms with the fact that you are gay? i really cant come to terms with it and just throw myself into denial without realising. its like im having a battle with myself.
