If Adam and Eve are the parents of all mankind, and they spoke personally with God, why was there ever a need for mankind to have primitive, tribal religions? At least in that area of the world?

God's TRUE relationship didn't start with "Judaism". In the true revelation of history (given in the book of Genesis) God related to man, i.e. Adam, Noah. Man in is rebellion created their own gods (which were just external manifestations of loving man rather than God).

God then chose in His eternal plan to show Himself by planning to have a special "witness" physically on earth. He chose Abraham to start this process, which in turn ended up with Moses writing the Torah.

What Moses wrote were NOT "rip offs" of other pagan religions. These "universal myths" are merely echoes of a REALITY which were distorted through generations of retelling. When Moses and the other inspired writers of Scripture use the language of contemporary epics, they are CORRECTING them with the truth of revelation.

Those primitive religions were their attempts at making sense of God without the benefit of the revelation we have in Jesus.

God called Abram about 2,000 years after He created Adam and Eve.

There never was a need, but sinful men in rebellion against the real God created them anyway.

Because it's all bogus. Adam was taken from Egyptian creation myths that predate Judaism. His name was originally Atum.

Anyone who believes the world began 6000 odd years ago in the "Garden of Eden" needs to have their head examined.
