What goes on, specifically, at the Sunday service. If I show up, can I just sit in the back and watch without someone coming up and doing the meet-and-greet or trying to sell me on the church? What sort of things are talked about by the minister? What kind of interaction is expected of people in the congregation.

No need to cut and past wikipedia or other sites. I have already reasearched it and get the basic gist of the religion. What I want are details from people who have actually been to a service - give me examples, and anecdotes please.

Much obliged.

Then why did he create animals that are homosexuals? These animals don't have choices over who they are attracted to, so obviously God designed them to be gay.

Why?

Do you think God thinks homosexuality is fine in the natural world, just not for humans? Did he give some homosexual urges just to especially test them?

Some entire species of lizards are only female and have sex with each other and give birth without males.

How do you reconcile these gay animals with the Noah's Ark story?

I'm sure this question has been asked, but what's YOUR justification?

And yes, I know a lot of you don't believe in eternal torment (or even God for that matter) but for those of you who do, how can you justify belief, even LOVE for such a MONSTER? Could God just not resist? He couldn't think of any other way to fulfill his "plan" without burning me in Hell forever? God is just? It sure doesn't seem that way, but how do YOU justify a maniac for a deity?

Sorry, that was supposed to be a lot shorter. :P

could we define that faith as the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen?

If not, what definition would you use?

((I do not personally believe atheism requires faith, but I'm asking those who do))

Especially the Old Testament? Are you really Christians? Because the way I was taught, one of Jesus' most important goals was to stop hate.

I have been studying Wicca for 7 years and I have been having a hard time maintaining my focus. I thing mostly because 1. I don't believe in magic (that isn't what interests me about Wicca) and 2. I don't know any other Wiccans or Pagans. I have reached out upon occasion (on line mostly) but that has gone no where (I did make contact with a local coven but because I don't drive I never heard from them again) and I am finding myself starved for contact with others. Is anyone else in the same situation, or have you been and what did you do?

and gay marriage. it doesn't hurt you in any way, it doesn't make the earth suddonly explode, and it doesn't have any negative effects on anything. also, why are people against gay people? every single person on this earth is a homosapian, sexual prefferance has nothing to do with making some one more or less of a person. homosexual relationships used to be encouraged, and seen as a good thing, as well as the ultimate form of male pride. homosexuality is not a chioce, it is 100% all natural. homosexuality is not only in humans. there are other animas such as dolphins, that are gay or bisexual. can someone help me understand what the hell is going on here with all of the hate.

If they have time to be on here, reading and answering questions, why aren't they out in the community helping the elderly lady clean her house, or the newly married couple painting their nursery?

I don't think they're truely men of God if they have enough time to spend on here....agree?

I see John Hagel and Jerry Falwell damning gay people to hell all the time but what about their own gluttony? Gluttony is on the list of seven deadlies, and being gay is only mentioned here and there in the old testament... and trust me these guys don't have a gland problem, they are 28-sandwhich eating, throat stuffing pig GLUTTONS.

I'm talking to: all Christian denominations as well as other belief systems that teach love of God and neighbor.

I'm convinced that our religious differences are all cosmetic and linguistic. God is too big for any one person or one faith to conceive of entirely. WHATEVER idea we have of God is going to be too small, too limited, therefore essentially wrong.

We all have pieces of the bigger picture, but instead of putting them together and seeing how they interrelate, we fight and call each other names and create acrimony over them.

I'm not asking how feasible this is: I know it's not likely to happen in my lifetime. Egos are too big. But do you think we would all benefit from working together to help get a clearer concept of God? If so, why? If not, why not?
