Luther, a devout Catholic priest, did oppose many of the things going on in the RCC. These were outlined in the 95 Theses. When the RCC excommunicated him, he and his followers formed the Lutheran church (not his choice by the way! He didn't want them to be "Luther"ans.) We hold to many of the same teachings, with some basic differences. We do not feel that works get you into heaven. We do not believe in purgatory. We do not believe in the veneration and the intercessings of Mary and the saints. We do not believe in the supremacy of the vatican and the pope. While we believe that the body and the blood is in, with, and through the bread and the wine, we do not believe the bread and wine are truely replaced. There are more, but you get the idea. We are more firmly aligned with the Catholic church than with most prostestant denominations. (We took one step away from the RCC, where many of the others have taken 10 and 20 steps)

Are you looking for a simple answer?
Catholic have not had the same teachings for 2000 years. That is totally stupid and uneducated. Likely a Catholic who said it.
The Catholic church was selling salvation. Give so much money and we will forgive your sins. Martin Luther was a Catholic Augustinian monk. After trying to find personal peace he realized this wasn't working. It sounded to stupid. He then read the Bible and found that it was nothing like what the Catholic church was teaching. He reacted by writing 95 points of disagreements and nailing them to the church door. This started things rolling. German kings didn't like the Catholic church telling them what to do so they backed him.
His own king wanted two wifes and Martin Luther said okay so you can see there was not that much difference. Martin Luther started a new state church in the kingdom and the reformation was on.
John Calvin was a French man who set up headquarters in Geneva Switzerland. He got the backing of the city leadership to become his own little kingdom. He was an ego maniac who killed people who disagreed with him.
He followed Augustine in theology and copied the concepts down to the core. His theology to this day is known as tulip.
Man is T otally depraved.
U nconditional election... God choses who is saved and who is lost before the world was born..
L imited atonement... Jesus only died for those elect
P erserverence of the saints... those chosen stay chosen forever.
As crazy and non biblical as this system is by this ego maniac murderer many evangelical Americans except these false concepts and never think it through. The second chapter of Rick Warrens book "The Purpose Driven Life" is all this false Calvinistic perspective, and No one says a word...

Yes, CJ needs the REAL life gotten through the Blessed Sacrament at the Catholic Church. The main teaching which is important is salvation is through the sacrifice and death of Our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross.
The guy right above me needs the Real life too----

That is much too large an question to be able to answer on this forum. You should do a search on each one, read a couple dozen books, and the answer will come to you.

(CJ, get a REAL life. Geesh.)
You would need to do a bit of research on this - too much to answer on this site.

Catholics have been unsaved heretics since Constantine. They are a Babylonian pagan cult. Some recognized this, and decided to leave the genocidal Vatican and be saved by believing the true Gospel.
