As you know, Scientology was created for money, only for money, nothing else. It uses harmful tactics. It destroys the life of its opponents. Do you believe all religions were created that way?

James M : Scientologists aren't my enemies. I am sure that most of them are just caught into this cult. They have my sympathy even if they try to get others into the same cult.

My position is very simple my friend. I base my decision on evidence, and the evidence that I consider is collected by people, including myself. I need to trust the people who present the evidence. So, I look at the evidence in peer reviewed scientific journals. There is none that support Scientology. Scientologists say I should take their courses to check for my self and not believe anything else. I agree that I should check for my self and I do, but why exactly should I trust more Scientology than the scientific community? Why can't you use science?

Note that I insist on science, and do not even mention all those governments officials that condemn Scientology. This is because, if you were to provide strong scientific evidence that can be trusted, I would not listen to these government officials.

There is a *huge* difference between most religions and Scientology. Most religions have long history of genuine belief, regardless of the fact I disagree with them.

Scientology started out a scam so L Ron Hubbard could make money and Scientology is still a scam.

Some of the beliefs espoused by Scientology are so far out there in the realm of science fiction and fantasy, only the most insane (Hubbard) or gullible person could actually create or believe such nonsense.

If there is an example of how easy it is to fool people into believing almost anything, no matter how silly or irrational, Scientology is that example.

Actually, no. Many of these religions were in fact created for the common good but have gone by the wayside over centuries.

I still have respect for some religions like Buddhism and Hindu, not for all.

As for Scientology: That's a genuine money-grubbing cult, more so than Christianity. It's just ridiculous that people would buy into it.

at first, each thing in existence replaced into no longer created by using human beings: the universe is one ingredient. Secondly, there are various variations of God and there are greater effective than one holy e book. Now that we are sparkling on those factors, particular, i've got faith that each thing IS GOD (Pantheism) and the Bible is a gaggle of hogwash, that "godist" religions, for the main section, propose properly yet somewhat have not had lots of a good impact on the human race, that there is not any such place as heaven or hell - those are states of being, no longer easily "places", and evil of direction does it exist, so there is not any longer something to disbelieve there.

Not all religions. But I certainly do believe that the Abrahamic religions were created that way and for the same purposes (money, power and control).

No. There are clearly sincere religious people who genuinely and guilelessly believe every tenet of their faith. I think it extremely unlikely that every religion was created for selfish reasons.

Doesn't mean I think they're correct, but I suspect that many of them were honest attempts to influence a harsh and unforgiving world of 1500 BC or whenever.

"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful"
-Seneca

People have a desperate need to believe in something supernatural. Wise people with evil intentions realize they can wield great amounts of power with religion.

Organized religion gets in the way of being religious

Not exactly. Hubbard seems to be a scam-artist. Older religious founders were probably genuinely fooled.

I think most ORGANIZED religions were started for that reason, or at least for power and control.

I think primitive man created the idea of "a god" to explain the things that their ignorant minds couldn't understand.

The founders of most religions believed what they taught. L Ron didn't.
