It is of the occult, not for God's children.

No, it's not demonic. It's simply a work of art. If you don't enjoy it as art, then don't have it in your home. No object can be an idol unless you give your time and faith to it. That is why money has been the idol of the ages. People even frame their "first" dollar, or sometimes carry a "lucky penny"... both are given reverence that should only be given to God Almighty.

I'm a pretty hardcore Christian (in my opinon), and I don't keep crusifixes in my house, because I can't simply treat a depiction of Christ as simply a "piece of carved wood" I have a propensity from my Catholic days to revere and respect it more than that. When I visit to my mother-in-law's church, I do not bow or kneel at a cross or crusifix as that is PURE IDOLOTRY and explained clearly in the Holy Bible, second comandment given to Moses. Though Catholics have OMITTED this from their teaching, and broke the last commandment into two parts, so they can still capitalize on idolotry.

Sorry about going on so long... but I hope I illustrated that nothing can be an idol unless you make it one.

Dragons were originally part of Chinese totems and were believed to be gods that controlled the weather. Even today it is believed that dragons rule the water and weather.
To a lot of Christians, any form of a god that is not based on Christian or Jewish principles would be seen as being at odds with the one true God. For that reason, some Christians might see a porcelain oriental dragon to be a symbol of something negatively spiritual.

The Chinese dragon (long, 龙) is a symbol not a god. They are not worshiped as a god or a deity.

The phoenix (feng huang 风凰) is the female counter part of the Dragon. When the images are together they represent love, and a happy marriage.

By themselves the phoenix is a symbol of good luck and the dragon is a symbol of power.
_______________
Their are other images that do represents gods. I won't go into any details... since we have a majority of God fearing Christians here, I wouldn't want to scare anyone. :) lol

Just for your own personal information, Buddhists do not worship the Buddha. He is not "idol," though it is a common misconception by many that he is, because it seems like people are bowing to him and worshiping him like Christians do Jesus or God. This is simply not the case. Buddhism is an atheist religion. They do not have god or anyone that they worship.

As for your dragons, unless you are somehow praying to this statue, then it would not be considered an idol. I can honestly say that your opinion would be wrong in this context.

Most Chinese people aren’t Christians. Therefore, Chinese people symbolize something demonic for Christians.

It's art.

I have a porcelain cereal bowl, does that constitute an idol?

Porcelain dragons sound okay, I guess. I don't think they're demonic.

I prefer the term "idle worship."

Only if you are smoking crack. Why would you have to be afraid of a porcelain dragon?
