Science has very compelling and observable evidence that religious experience is empirically a combination of brain chemicals. They have been able to reproduce the results and the evidence has been peer reviewed.

Now it is just a matter of showing it as being a defect as opposed to normal.

After all, almost everyone gets a cold in the winter, that doesn't make the symptoms "normal".

Would you take the cure when it becomes available?

for an ex christian who is confronted with fundamentalists trying to convert them? I went to church camp and as I was leaving, the minister's wife said,"come to my church with your husband. I want to get to know you."

I was supporting my husband and now this is getting more complicated. I won't listen to her. She probably didn't mean it. I just thought that there might be a way to not be a snob and still get my point across that I don't want to be converted.

People don't go to church just to get to know their pastor do they?

I read where 77 cents of each dollar raised is given to research. If everything is donated to the show where does the $23 million go that is not donated to research. The stars supposedly donate their time, the facillities, etc. are donated so what do they do with all that money. Line Lewis' pockets ??

Some have said that by using amulets and charms, that voodooists are commiting idolotry. However, can you please explain this to me...

It came out many years ago and caused a big stir. It was about 900 pages long and essentially claimed that people can be ranked in order of intelligence by race. The authors claimed that overall, in terms of "smarts" folks could be ranked : #1 Asian #2 white #3 black.
Let me say at the outset I think their theory was ridiculous.
But something I noticed - in all the zillions of angry rebuttals, reviews, interviews, etc., not ONE I read even mentioned the main claim of the book - that Asians are naturally smarter than all others. Not a single person mentioned it or complained. The vast majority felt the book/theory was anti-black. Nothing was said about the claim of Asian superiority.
Isn't it just as bad (and racist) to claim that Asians are smarter as it is to claim that blacks are not as smart? Or is it because some people think it's ok to accept a stereotype that is positive? Seems to me a racist sterotype/theory is bad no matter who it's aimed at.
Any takers?

I would like to buy one....it was a cassette tape when I listened to it. But I would not mind having a cd of it. We used to decorate our christmas tree and listen to that tape every year. I'd like to carry on that tradition with my daughter. (some songs on the tape were: Little drummer boy, Chip and Dale singing all I want for Christmas...) I believe the cover was red, but it's been a while since I've seen it.
Any help in locating a copy of this is appreciated.

I certainly don't consider myself part of the good old boy network, which gives White males most of the opportunities. Most of the White people I know feel like they're lumped together with this group. I'm a young White male who doesn't have money or social standing or a great job. My decisions do not affect society. What group is there to stand up for my rights, a lower class citizen among my own race? Everyone else has their own subgroup (which has rights & solidarity & support). I feel like we (today's Whites) are held responsible for every bad thing that White people have ever done. If we band together, we are considered racist. I don't want to stomp on anyone else's rights, or celebration of their heritage. I would just like to have the same pride in my background, & be able to express it freely, just like any other person.

Salaam alaykum, to all supportive sisters. I have now today started wrapping my head, I am very excited. I have a feeling of protection. I just don't have like big shawls and you know the big hijabs. So for now I am wearing the head scarfs like african style. So if any of you know of websites that sell really cool hijabs please post them here. I was taking a look at some, but they weren't very convincing, not like the ones I see sisters here wear.
