Dress smart no matter what the job.

Swot up on the job you're going for as the interview questions are likely to be about that job and how you think you could do it.

Don't be frightened to tell them that this is your first ever interview, They will appreciate your honesty.

Take your time with every question and think about what you are being asked. Any interviewer will be more impressed by a short silence while you think about your answer than an immediate response which is a load of irrelevant dross.

If you don't understand a question say so and ask them to expand a bit. You could talk all day with authority, but if in doing so you haven't answered their question it's been a waste of both of your time.

Have a question for them. Most Interviewers will give you an opportunity to ask them something about the company. Make it something positive like what are the promotion prospects, or will there be opportunities to improve yourself through internal or company sponsored training?

Most of all be confident and be honest, don't give them them answers to questions that you think they want to hear because they will have already heard them a million times before. Answer the questions in a way that you believe in, therefore they are honest and unique to you.

Good luck

An interview can be a scary proposition. First ask yourself what type of position am I applying for. Example if you are wanting to work for a landscaping company you would probably not wear a suit to your interview, they might think you think yourself to good to get your hands dirty. Think about what type of work it is you will doing, and dress accordingly. If it is an office setting, something neat in appearance nothing over the top and somewhat conservative. As far as what you should expect, remember most don't have any idea what they are going to ask you short of the basics name, why do you want to work here, what they are trying to find out is does this person fit , if you want to work there tell them why, why is it they should hire you, be enthusiastic and smile, confident without being cocky. The interview process is your first impression so make it good.

Stay positive, answer questions honestly and don't offer too much information, (it might make you seem nervous, or even worst like a chatter box) Wear smart, below knee length skirts with a shirt are great for gals. If not smart fitted trousers. Best of luck i'm sure you'll do fine

dress smart, nice smart, ironed clothes with clean shoes and smart hair- dont go too over the top on make up etc. Make it look casual at the same time.

when they ask you questions stick to what they are asking and answer truthfully. Try to put across your good points and avoid the bad points.

try to use past experiences to compare to the job and make them want to employ you.

a great idea (if you haven't given them one already) is to take along a recently prepared CV detailing your relevant qualifications and employment in the past which will relate to the job plus all of your personal details.

Good Luck :)

Give an example when you have encountered a problem and how you overcame it?

Give an example of when you've used your initiative.

Why are you applying for the post, what problems do you think the position will have?

What do you know about our company?

Give us an example of how you've coped with a difficult customer/workmate?

As to what to wear, something smart and business like that you'll feel comfortable in.

Do some research on your chosen career, know your subject.
Be confident, inject some lighthearted humour.
They are likely to ask something along the lines of 'what can you bring'
Dress smart, depends on job really.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
