That is a very good question since many of the same people love Easter which is nothing but a pagan holiday disguised as christian. It is the same holiday that the Easter bunny came out of.

Why did you say "Christians (and Catholics too)"? Catholicism is a denomination within Christianity. Anyway, I'm a Catholic, and don't hate the Easter Bunny. Our church has an Easter Egg hunt after the Easter Mass, and the young children get Easter baskets. I want to stay on the Easter Bunny's good side so he'll keep bringing me chocolate and jellybeans, even though I'm (arguably) a grown-up. :)

The groups that refuse to celebrate Christmas, Halloween, and Easter are usually hardline right-wing Christian groups that frown upon these holidays because of their origins in Paganism, despite the fact that they've long since come to mean something entirely different to Christians than to Pagans.

I have nothing against the Easter Bunny. He has nothing to do with the meaning of Easter though.

Oops, when I have a bunny or chick marshmallow "peep" I always "bite their little head off first." Does that mean that I have something against the Easter Bunny? ;)

Easter is the Resurrection of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. The Easter Bunny is just what the devil used to turn people's eyes away from Jesus and onto the pagan things. Pagans believed in the fertility Goddess, and that is why they used eggs to represent fertility, as for the Easter bunny....I am not really sure why that was involved....but it is a nice chocolate treat.

As a Catholic, I have never had anything against the Easter Bunny. I have always found him to be very delicious.

On a serious note, rabbits, chicks and eggs are all symbols of new life. This relates to Easter because Jesus' resurrection won for us new life.

You said it yourself: everyone knows those characters are made-belief. There is no need to tell everyone what they already know. Christians go to such great lengths to convert others, because they believe that non-believers do not truly understand God. Well, atheists do the same thing. They try to explain a new view to Christians: that God does not exist. The only fools are those people who are so set in their ways that they refuse to learn something new about the world. If you do not understand atheists, why do you label them as fools? Maybe if you had a decent, respectful conversation with one, you'd have a better idea of what they believed, and why.

Doh !!!! And the next thing you are going to say is that they don't lay chocolate covered eggs. Just where do you think chocolate covered eggs come from. OK, OK, maybe some are laid by chocolate chickens today, but still the biggest supplier is the Easter Bunny, no doubt.

HE DOESN'T? Why would you say something like that?!?

Also, the church has a long history of trying to bury it's pagan roots. Bunnies are a pretty raw reminder of what exactly was celebrated at that time of year. (Fertility also isn't a comfortable topic for Christianity, I guess.)

Easter is a pagan holiday, it has nothing to do with Christ. The name Easter is the name of the pagan goddess of spring.

The Easter Bunny is symbol of fertility that dates back to worshiping of Estore the goddess of spring.

WELL now. I don't 'hate' Mr. Bunny per se , I just wish he would stop horning in on the Resurrection with his sinful chocolate eggs and heathenish marshmallow peeps.
