Oh, yes what fun!!! Did you ever have a come as you are party? We did, a blast. One of My friends or I would call the friends parents and let them know what was going on. Then about 5 or 6 in the morning the host would go to the houses and get their friends out of bed, and get them in a vehicle. PJ's and all. Once we went into a Duncan Donuts in our PJs except for the host. Ahhh, the good old days, we would be put in jail now days. (for something so simple) One reason we called the parents was the time, and to make sure we were in our good PJs.

I didn't have a car in my adolescent years. Neither did any of my friends. New York City was like that. But, I do know the origin of the phrase "Chinese Fire Drill". In the 1930s there was a major fire in what is now Tianjin, China. The U.S. Marines who were stationed there went to the aid of the people and the local fire department in helping to contain the blaze as best they could. The Marines viewed the local fire department as being totally disorganized and unequal to the task of fighting the blaze. So,the phrase "as screwed up as a Chinese fire drill" came into vogue.

Actually, no I didn't...but, I seem to be playing it daily in my business....! Trust me, I wish I had gotten it out of my system when I was young. There is not a day that goes by when we do not have some kind of Chinese fire drill at work...so much moving around for so little return! Oh, well...at least I can still laugh about it. Good luck and peace, Goldwing

We had our own version at college...this one girl who OWNED her own car, would drive the rest of us around wherever we wanted to go. The only stipulation was that every time the car passed a new thousand mile mark we would have to pull over and stop IMMEDIATELY, and do a little war dance around the car hooting and hollering. She said it was to keep the car from attracting mechanical "spirits" that would make it break down and need repair.
Well, I don't know if there was any basis of truth in that, but over the two years we did this, the car NEVER needed any maintenance except oil changes, and NEVER ONCE gave the owner a lick of trouble.

Only once, it was sort of silly feeling. We played "Bag Em". Sit a suit case on the side of the highway at night with a long rope attached, cars would whiz by, see it and would back up to get it...we would reel it in and hide in the bushes watching them look for it. That was more entertaining than the old fire drill......

Never heard of that one! We did drive up on a narrow moutain road and get out(box full of large pinecones) and throw them on top of cabin roofs, then lay low, watch folks come out look around and go back inside, then repeat until the cones were all gone. Great fun.

Yeah, I sure did. We lived out in the country, so it was a big deal to come to a red light, guess we were just celebrating a little when we saw one. Ha!

I confident my mom to try this after, area of it replaced into she did no longer be attentive to the place we've been going. She have been given out and ran around, and that i purely slid over to the motive force's seat out of laziness. I wish i ought to have seen the face of the motive force at the back of us while the vehicle began moving possible without a driver.
