What many people fail to see about religion and it's place in our country and it's founding is that the founders believed that everyone had religion and that Christianity was by far the religion of most of the colonists.

Today, claiming the US a "Christian Nation" is simply observing that the vast majority of the US is Christian. If the vast majority were Jewish, then surely the US would be a "Jewish Nation."

Today a minority of the people of the US believe it is their right to inpose their views or non-views onto the majority something that George Washington warned about. And most of this imposing has come by court actions not by votes in the senate or by ballet choices in general elections.

Basically what has happened in the last 40 years or so is that we have let the minority get their way and impose their views onto the majority.

The minority views the Bill of Rights as a one-sided document which removes rights from the majority and we have let this happen.

What we have here is FAILURE. We wont be a Christian nation much longer if we don't take a stand for the values we are loosing on a daily basis.

I've said it before, the burden of proof lies on you. And if you want to prove christ to anybody, your gonna need more than the Bible.

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian Religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries"

- Terms of a treaty with Tripoli, drafted by George Washington and signed by John Adams.

ARTICLE 11 (Treaty with Tripoli, 1796)

As the government of the United States of America is NOT (caps are mine) in any sense founded on the Christian Religion,4 - as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen, - and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Sorry,... we are Not a christian nation... at least according to John Adams, one of the founding fathers.

which Jesus? Mormon Jesus? Christian Jesus? JW's Jesus?

I accept the Jesus Christ from the bible....!
not the Mormon version of Jesus, who came to American and had kids, and J. Smith claims he is a direct descendant. Or the Mormon Father who was once a man.
there is a great problem in this thinking for you would be loosing sight of the true God.
Then the Jehovah's think Jesus Christ is an angel !!!
so come on....which Jesus we talking about here? that's why we can't get along. because cults try perverting the word of God to suit their needs.

There is TRUTH, and there is FICTION
got to be careful when dealing with your one and only soul

We're indeed a Christian Nation. After all, the First Amendment says no law shall be passed regarding an establishment of religion (except evangelical Christianity, because it's not a religion, but a relationship with Christ).

BLECH

There was a nation before the thumpers showed up with a Jesus at the end of a sword. We've all heard the communications ALL of them, and have realized its all silly-silly stuff for sheep.

I could say the same thing about "can't we all accept Allah" or "cant we all accept Vishnu" or if you really want to go that far "cant we just accept the FSM"

Show me proof Jesus is anymore real than the 3 stated above and i'll hear you out.

And btw just because Bush "claims" to be christian and just because your "forefathers" claim to have been religous, doesn't meen your a christian nation.

I wish, people complain about the state that our country is in but yet the same ones that complain are the same ones that deny Christ! If they would simply read the history books they would find out that this country was founded on BIBLICAL principles! Is it not common sense that when you take God out of it it all goes to hell (no pun intended). We should all accept Christ but unfortuneatly, it will never happen! Just remember, when the secular world gets you down, God promised us that we would be persecuted for our beliefs! All we can do is continue show the love of Christ in our own lives, others will see it in us and eventually follow!

We are a nation who's citizens are free to worship as they like, or not worship at all. Freedom of religion was one of the key reasons we left the UK way back when. Yes, most of the US population is christian (of some denomination), but not all. I just wish people would stop trying to convert me - with tales of me going to hell, praying to Satan, worshipping idols! Give me a break people. Keep your sales pitch to yourselves.

I'm not Christian. Get a load of yourself. Christian Nation? I don't beleive in your Bull sh#t and I won't except Jesus until I meet him. And what are all the crosses about? Like Jesus will want to see another f#cking cross. Why can't we get along and RESPECT each other instead of saying that we are all the same and we need to be one because only one can be right. B#tch.
