I never have understood this concept. Why should you fear something or some being that is suposed to be all about love and forgivness. I would think if anything "God" would want to be your friend, not somebody you have to be scared of. If I have to be scared of something to give it worship, can you call it a healthy relationship? Can anyone explane this?

"A Belgian prosecutor on Tuesday recommended that the U.S.-based Church of Scientology stand trial for fraud and extortion, after a 10-year investigation that concluded the group should be labeled a criminal organization. The church said it would fight the criminal charges recommended by investigation prosecutor Jean-Claude Van Epen, who said up to 12 unidentified people should face charges. Investigators have spent the last decade trying to determine how far the church went in rectuiting converts after numerous complaints were filed with police by former members who say they've been the victims of extortion."

Do you think this kind of investigation should be done in other countries?

Pues era tupido y agradable de caminar;

One of the most critical things which encourages the popularity of a religion is signs.

Moses shows signs to the Pharaoh, personally, and brought the ten plagues. Jesus healed the sick, walked on water, turned water into wine, and ultimately resurrected himself from the dead. Muhammad split the moon in two, brought water forth from his fingers, and put forth many prophecies. Among other religions, Hindu Swamis, Gotama Buddha, and all kinds of mystics have been said to have performed miracles. Their acts, if true, are largely contributing factors to the popularity of thei religions.

One of the reasons I believe in science is because I can see it and touch it. Right now, I'm using a computer. It was developed by scientists and mathematicians, and it's ingenious. The world is dominated and run by science, not God. When men are sick, they turn to doctors and hospitals, not priests or churches. When one's car break down, all the prayer in the world amounts to nothing until you go to a mechanic.

I challenge religions because of their lack of hard evidence. If, in fact, Moses, Jesus, or Muhammad were alive today to perform their miracles, I would trust them, but as it stands, their supposed miracles are nothing but legends of dubious authenticity.

Being how clearly influential signs are -- the Jews demanded that Jesus provide signs before he was crucified -- why doesn't Satan provide signs?

It seems that Satan is as dead as God. There are no witches, magic probably doesn't work, and there are no mystical beasts -- no goblins or ogres -- running about, doing the devil's work.

Now, obviously, it wouldn't make much sense for Satan to come out, committing black magick and doing particularly evil things, because people would disregard him, immediately.

But imagine if Satan formed a religion of his own, claimed it supported peace, goodwill, and righteousness. This religion committed many noble acts, but its followers were bound by some code which would cost them their salvation, either the rejection of monotheism or the rejection of Jesus. If Satan is truly so powerful, he would simply have to fly around, healing millions of people the way Jesus did, and the whole world would worship him.

And yet he doesn't. Instead, he hides in the shadows, working "through" people, ha! Working through non-believers to harm believers' faith.

Isn't that sort of a silly plan? Satan doesn't seem too clever or powerful to me.

Remember a moment when you were separated and spent some time alone. What did you discuss with yourself? Did you criticise your situation? Or did you focus on what matters most?

How do you think we could really benefit from our time spent here?

Im not against it in the Pledge of Allegiance, or the Texas Pledge, but what is the point of adding it now? It sounds funny how the added it in there, and most of the kids just stand there anyway.

It makes perfect sense to me that all legal immigrants (forget about the illegals because they have right to be here in the first place without INS permission) should learn English as a requirement for U.S. citizenship. If I move to Russia, for example, I would be expected to learn the Russian language. Why should it be any different in the United States?

Your input?

My heritage is largely German, and I'd like to visit there soon, so I want to learn the language. Unfortunately I'm not offered classes in German (only Spanish), so I'd like to know the best way to learn it without a class. Different computer programs, books, etc... Would be helpful.

Some might say "with christ" but can you historicaly trace your church back to peter and paul and john.

Can you trace your beliefs back to what they thought and believed.

There are other writings that dont contradict but help interpret the bible and these are written from 60ad and shed light on the truth.

is anyoneinterested in that or are people more interested in the wide way and not the narrow gate

They're spouting off Leviticus and Paul's Letters (bless them), whilest essentially daming us to their dear God's burning region of fun and torture; that is unless we comply with the lack of physical love they're offering. Oh dear.
Of course, I could mention the usual mixed garments, shrimp feeds, selling ones children into slavery or stoning the next door neighbors, but really -- that's been done.
Oh dear dear christian Folk, what are you really angry about? Put aside the religious rant and really get it off your chest. If you keep it clean and polite I won't say anything to the Great Gods of Yahoo. Just keep it clean and keep religion out of it.
What *really* bugs you about us?
Is it we're happier than you? (okay, I've a 27 year marriage and you don't....)
Do we smile too much?
Is it the Rainbow? (too bright?)

Come on...give me a clue. I'd really like to know. I'm giving you your shot here to do it without bringing religion into it.

For what shall a man be profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give in exchange for his life?

27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then shall he render unto every man according to his deeds.
Matthew 16

24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

25 For whosoever would save his life shall lose it: and whosoever shall lose his life for my sake shall find it

I just started going to a catholic church, I am a 20 year long spirit filled evangelical. Heavily educated in the bible, used to read it 3-4 times a year.

I go to a spirit filled catholic church. I have never heard a hail mary in mass, although I understand the rosary is read on seperate occasions.

A lot of what is in the catholic faith is absolutly biblical and if ou want to cite the misconceptions I will try to clear them up for you.

A lot of people say that you can't find proof of homosexuality being a sin in the bible [other than Leviticus]...so explain 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 New Living Translation

9 Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. 11 Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Pretty plain and simple, don't ya think?

Please don't answer if all you're going to say is something like "it doesn't matter cause God or the Bible isn't real." I want sincere input, please. I'm trying to learn more and have a better understanding of the bible. Thanks.
