When taking the Eucharist, what is the proper thing to do? Just for references for myself. I have no interest in becoming a Christian, however, I may be attending a Eucharist Liturgy for my grandmother's passing.

Yup, I'm whining about the whiners (which, by the way, is one of only two things I have whined about, the other being lack of indoor plumbing at my old school).

1. You do nothing but beg for handouts

Wrong! My family got probably two dozen Meals-Ready-to-Eat and a few gallons of water. That's it. The story is repeated across much of my town.

2. You should have gotten out. They had reports!

There's things that you can't do after the storm when you're miles away. Too bad that your house has been cleaned out of its valuables while you were gone, 'cause you could have protected it from looters if you were there...

3. You're just waiting for the government to pull you back on your feet!

See #1. Also, the families that have the money to rebuild are doing so as fast as they can.

4. Wait, I thought the hurricane only hit New Orleans.

Can't we just drop this whole thing?

We live in a day of such great technological advancements, where we can put man on the moon and harness the force of nuclear energy, while implementing giant HDTV's in half of America's homes. But we still have people who cling onto the bible and genesis which says the world is around 6,000 years old (created in 6 days=1,000 days for every god day). Isn't that kind of sad?

Paul never heard the word "Justification" in his life, today "Justification" has become a foundational doctrine of Christianity. Justification has become a religious license for millions to live carnal, unfaithful lives under the label of a "Christian".

My Grandfather 8 generations back was born out of wedlock.

Deut.23:2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

It wasn't my fault, after all.

someone bought me a shirt that say dahli mama what does it mean??

2007-09-05 15:11:41 · 2 answers · asked by yo-yo 2 in Languages

What does it mean? EXPLAIN AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE

When Jesus had driven out a demon, some of the crowd said:
“By the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons,
he drives out demons.”
Others, to test him, asked him for a sign from heaven.
But he knew their thoughts and said to them,
“Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste
and house will fall against house.
And if Satan is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand?
For you say that it is by Beelzebul that I drive out demons.
If I, then, drive out demons by Beelzebul,
by whom do your own people drive them out?
Therefore they will be your judges.
But if it is by the finger of God that I drive out demons,
then the Kingdom of God has come upon you.
When a strong man fully armed guards his palace,
his possessions are safe.
But when one stronger than he attacks and overcomes him,
he takes away the armor on which he relied
and distributes the spoils.
Whoever is not with me is against me,and whoever

Since the time of Adam, all mankind was marked with original sin on his soul, But the mother of Jesus, was not born with this sin, hmmm I wonder why? Because Jesus her most holy and divine son and not exist in the darkness of sin of the womb of a sinner, thus God saved her in advance from this sin and made her holy and full of Grace, blessed among all women, the mother of Jesus!!!

...if the U.S. decided to suddenly switch to Greek deities and put "In Zeus we trust" on money and in the pledge? Would it bother you if instead of the Jesus fish, the U.S. endorsed putting pics of Hermes' winged feet on cars?

The point is-- this is why it bothers some non-Christians that the US endorses Christianity. Wouldn't it be nicer if the U.S. endorsed no religon, was simply government instead of (religious) government? Wouldn't that be better for all of us?

I realize that the U.S. was founded on Christianity, but now it's not all Christian. We aren't Puritans anymore. Religion should not have to do with the law process...this is not a monarchy. We shouldn’t even have “blue laws” anymore.

What do you guys think? I want to hear from all Christians and non-Christians, people of every faith (or not of any faith). What is your stance on this?

***Please be decently friendly. And no telling me we'd be without morals if not for Christianity...we all know that's a load. Christianity is far younger than morals

So, this girl, Taylor, and I used to be best friends. For 4 years.
Then at the beginning of the summer, she told me she didnt like this guy Brian anymore. So, i went out on a date with him. One date. Then she got all..pissy over it, and now we're not best friends anymore. We're not even friends.
Now that schools started, she won't let it go. She keeps talking crap about me, calling me a backstabber etc.
Well, i went to the school councler about it, then when we tried calling her down, so i can talk to her, she wouldnt come. Then, her mom called and said She doesnt want Taylor talking to me.

I want to find a way to tell taylor, to back off, and stop talking about me. She's being really immature about this, and its making me mad.
How can i tell her? If i call her, she hangs up.
She has blocked me over the internet.
And at school...she will probably just walk away

sweep away all the theories and common notions, and to apply the understanding, thus made fair and even, to a fresh examination of particulars. Thus it happens that human knowledge, as we have it, is a mere medley and ill-digested mass, made up of much credulity and much accident, and also of the childish notions which we at first imbibed." Do you agree or disagree with this statement written in the 1600's, and do you find humans to be less sophomoric than they were 400 years ago? Your thoughts will be appreciated.

By that I mean is there a person who is protestant who could adequatly defend their faith in a true discussion based on biblical and historical documents from the church fathers.

From what I have seen on this site most protestants do know some verses (out of context) and most likely do have a love for Jesus and their friends in church but because it becomes insular its almost like a cult so they cant question it (Evangelical for 20 years!!!)

Having learned about the catholic faith I think I could answer a few questions but I have much to learn, however church history stands out that the first christians (while not called catholic) followed exactly the same doctrine as catholics do.

In fact, Peter, Paul, John would feel quite comfortable in the modern day mass but would probobly be making a whip out of cords to deal with the marketplace that modern day evangelicals have become .

What do you think, I would like to hear from catholics and protestants who are seeking truth.

I noticed that people have been changing the way they talk or write recently but I'm wondering what kind of words have you heard or written or read that have changed recently? For example, I know many people used to call African-Americans, black people. Now they are calling them African-Americans.

What does it mean when you get a feeling of being watched, then see things out of the corner of your eyes and when looking, nothing is there, and then after a few minutes feel a cold breeze just in one spot? I was sitting on the couch, which is this big comfy suede thing that also reclines. I had this feeling that I was being watched, and the hair on the back of my neck literally stood on end. I felt like I was freezing, even though the thermostat is at 80. I then tested it for kicks from what I'd heard, and found basically a spot as big as a person next to me that was freezing. If I moved my hand back to my area or any other spot on the couch, it was room temperature, but for a few minutes right next to me was this freezing cold spot that was also somewhat like a breeze. The AC is off, there are no fans going, and my mom also is a believer in this stuff. What does that mean, besides the fact that it sounds crazy?

I live in a strange part of North America where one is often expected to remove one's shoes upon entering a friend's house. Is this normal where you live?

Should I have to remove my shoes if they are clean and free from mud, water and snow?

Some friends say my shoes bear germs and quite possibly crud from dog feces and human saliva deposited by spitting. Off they must come! Walk around in stocking feet, even if I'm wearing a suit!

Is this normal where you live???

Is seven a lucky number in astrology? I was born 12:07 am, July, 7, 1979. And seven leap years later I turned 28 on 7/7/07. Freaky eh? Though unfortunately none of my lotto tickets were winners on my birthday, so I'm not much of a believer in it. lol
