The question isn't in any way contradictory... a god isn't defined as "a supreme being that wants you to suck up to it", it only need be a higher power of some sort... As for those of you saying he wouldn't, how could you know what a mind of infinite complexity would or wouldn't do? What if you being an atheist would save million of lives? Or you being a Christian would make thousands convert from Christianity?...

And yes, it is a paradox (though it isn't contradictory), but only if one were to believe that memory thoughts and motivations are immutable..

As for asking something new... Why?... I don't believe I've ever seen a new question on Yahoo Answers...

God can't do this. First, there is a problem with the premise of the question. While it is true God can do anything that is consistent with His nature, it is absurd to suggest that he can do everything. God cannot lie (Hebrews 6:18); he cannot be tempted (James 1:13); and he cannot cease to exist (Psalm 102:25-27).
Furthermore, just as it is impossible to make a one-sided triangle, so it is impossible for God to do something inconsistent with His nature. God can do everything that is logically possible and consistent with his nature.
Finally, we should note that a wide variety of similar questions are asked to undermine the Christian view of God.(Can God make a rock big enough that he can't move it?)
Therefore, it is crucial to learn to question the question and the questioner rather than assuming it is valid.
Can the questioner walk a tightrope?

God is a God and if He wanted me to be an atheist. There would be no logic in Him asking that because I have already looked upon the face of God and seeing God is also believing that He is God and is existing. Therefore there is no reasoning or logic in your question. Holds no merit.

God would not tell anyone that, but he would tell a believer to be a friend to atheists, to be a true example of a Christian to atheists.

That is a paradox obviously, in order to take an order from God: he has to exist. So you can't really not believe he exists, but take orders from him at the same time.

God has never instructed anyone to NOT believe in Him. Since believing Him is our ONLY hope, this question is senseless.

He wouldnt. That would be contradictory(sp?) to his whole existance. In fact, NO deity would tell you to be an atheist, taht wouldnt make sense.
