I mean books about how to proselytize, not the bible. Have you ever read one? (whether you're Christian or not)
I recently bought a book fromo a flea market entitled "Compact Guide to World Relgions". It was only 50 cents, so I decided it was worth it.
When I got home and started reading the book, I realized what it actually was. It was not an unbiased, impartial, objective overview of religions as I thought it was at first glance. It turned out that it was a Christian book. It presented about fifteen religions or thoughts including Judaism, Muslim, Shinto, secularism, new age, Tao, etc. It presented each religion basically as a deviation from the "right" religion of Christianity.
There are sections about how to evangelize and things to say to people of each particular belief. There are arguments for Christianity and counter-arguments for just about every argument against Christianity. I learned a lot about the Christian lines of thinking. Interesting...

People often want to know what denomination you are, but they don't want to hear about what you believe. What they really want to do is fit you into one of their already preconceived ideas about you, and what you believe. If someone can pigeonhole you, then they don't really have to care about your beliefs.

My latest answer, when asked, is I am in some ways a Protestant, as in those who rejected the Romish religion and it's psuedo-'Christian' religious practices, rituals, and idolatry. In today's religious group-think mentality, that would mean that I reject the Romish-inspired 'teachings' on a secret pre-tribulation rapture. I am puritan because I believe the Pope to be antichrist. I am fundamentalist because I reject the 'god' of professing christian mind who loves the sinner but hates the sin, and how this 'god' sent 'his' son to die for goats and the children of disobedience.

What is the difference between a Moslem and Islamist? A person who follows the religion of Islam is a Moslem. There are radical Moslems and fundamental Moslems. Why say Islamist?

I've always thought of my organization as polite, generous, mild to anger people. We're not a cult or a sect. As for people who say we shouldn't come to their house that can be arrange. Next time one of us comes simply ask them to remove their adress from the list or get a "No Trespassing" sign. If you guys just took a hard look at what we're trying so desprately to warn you against you would be fascinated. I am getting baptized in this organization. The last days are here, and I wish all of you on Yahoo! Anwers could come to the New Order. But please do me a favor next time a Jw comes at least listen, please. I'm 13. BBC-Nicolas Sarkozy has called for a strong Europe to rebuild a more harmonious world order, in his first foreign policy speech as French president.
Sarkozy said he remained opposed to Turkey's EU membership bid, but said he would not block further negotiations.

The emergence of a "strong Europe as a major player" internationally would help "rebuild a more efficient, fair and harmonious WORLD ORDER," he said.

He said the EU needed strong defence, immigration and environment policies. A committee of 10 experts should be set up to think about what the EU's mission should be
Revelation 13
And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the bsea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his apower, and his seat, and great authority.

Men are smelly creations. yet, they continue to claim cleanliness, when women are much nicer and cleaner. I have been in 23 relationships, and believe me; men smell. it is just part of their chemical make up. Yet, they continue to claim their supremicy.

We hear the complaint all the time that some people are way too pushy in trying to tell others about their religion. But some people, most notably Christians and Muslims, have a duty to proselytize as part of their religion. So what would you consider to be acceptable and not too pushy?

a new book has just been released which catalogs the life of mother teresa. in it, it discusses several moments in her life when she went through crises of her faith where she admittedly just did not believe in god. so my question is why do so many people here act like it's never even been a question for them, and that they are absolutely positive that a god exists? is it really possible to not have any doubts?

Also WHY do people get so serious and emotionally distressed over Yahoo Answers? Probably too much time spent in Yahoo internet land? This one person got so pissed that I called her vain in a really vain question she asked. She like hates me now lol.

Randy Alcorn wrote a book tited 'Lord Foulgrin's Letters'. There may have been a sequel, I have forgotten. This book is available on audio tape also. The book is similar to C.S. Lewis' book 'Screwtape Letters'. It traces the attempts of the devil to entrap and enslave human beings. Very clever, even quite funny as the devil continually is foiled. What did you think of this book?
