Ok, let's examine this a bit. Since you didn't say, I'm going to take the tack that you're christian and want to "shame" someone into being a christian also.
1. In order to be able to shame someone, there must be actual behavior that is shameful in the subject's opinion. If what you trying to shame them with is not viewed that way, they will just laugh at you.
2. If you use this tactic, and it actually works, what will you achieve? Human nature is such that you will only get someone who is going through the motions to make you shut up. That person will also resent you. Is that what you want?
3. If this method works, you're going to know, deep down, that this person is weak. Don't bother denying it, I know people, and this will be in the back of your mind, even if you force it out of the front. The person you do it to will also know they are weak. This person will hate you forevermore. Is this what you want?

Nope, I don't think anyone converts to anything (at least not whole-heartedly) because someone else has shamed them into it. Shaming is probably the most effective way to alienate someone that there is, IMO.

The effect of shaming a person (unless they have the marshmellow for guts) is zero. In fact, it only turns the person against you.

Shaming others is not really nice, and not at all effective in teaching.
I have taught others religion for many years, I look for the correct knowledge they already have, and their own thoughts to build upon. With that and the correct and frequent use of prayer and study people can grow closer to God.

being shamed into not coming to church is pretty common, I'd say. Being shamed into staying at church will work on a very humble person only, who does not need shaming to stay in church.
Shaming anyone for any reason is like dumping a wheel-barrow full of manure onto their head.

What exactly do you mean? Humiliating people is an effective way to make enemies. One might be converted if arguments are presented in a rational and polite manner. Humiliation has the exact opposite effect.

Nobody deserves to be shamed. I try to tell everyone to honestly question their faith and not to follow because someone else says so. But shame should never be a tactic.

if you're talking about what some people refer to as ''witnessing,'' there was no more effective method for keeping me away from christianity. i finally converted, but it definitely had nothing to do with the fact that so many christians looked down their nose at me. that was only a hinderance. i don't know why people think it works.

They may.... but that is just as cruel as forcing a religion upon someone. Don't do it, it's sinking to their level, and if the person is "shamed" into doing it then they don't really undersatnd or believe it.
