He supposidly gave us the ten commandments as guidlines to live our lives by as a basic set of guidlines. Yet he could not follow these guidlines himself. All throughout the bible God murdered people left and right. In fact according to the bible hes probably murdered more people than anyone throughout all of history. How many people do you think the flood killed alone?

Ok from what we know about earth and the universe it makes the most sense to me not to believe in any god, especially not the ones of the organized religions today.

However, when you think about it there is so much we don't know about the universe. Its beginning, how far does space extend, the existence of matter and how EVERYTHING started. I've been thinking, do we really have enough information to come to any conclusion at all about things like this. Perhaps it makes more sense to assume that there is no evidence and to become an agnostic.

I was wondering what other atheists think about this.

Its really weird. I see 11 minutes past the hour at least 3-4 times a day maybe more, unintentionally. I also see the number eleven everywhere I go. I have no idea why. Its like my brain has been trained to see it or something, I don't know. It used to be freaky to me but now I'm getting sick of seeing 9:11, 3:11, 5:11 etc. I thought It might be biblical. I looked at the 11th book, 11th chapter, verse 11. It reads: 1Kings Ch 11 Verse 11- "So the LORD said to Solomon, "Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates." This freaked me out a little.

I have heard people say: when the light in your life increases, so does the darkness. Do you think that is true for you? How so/Why not?

I asked this before but got reported... for "chatting and personal communication".
It's just something I like to do periodically; always good to throw some light on the ever-changing celebrities of the section.
Thank you.

speak out against terrorism anymore than I see non-Muslims speaking out against unwarranted hatred toward us.

I encounter Islamic hatred in my daily life; this unlike terrorism is something I must face everyday.

Why then don't u guys speak out against it? I have never wronged any1 or hurt any1 in my life that would cause me to deserve this. If I tell sum1 I'm Muslim they automatically change their views on me..it's not fair.

And still I speak out against terrorism, despite whether u hear my silenced voice or not...

I see this alarming trend - sadly not new - in young pagans, specifically those claimants to witchcraft or Wicca - that when corrected on misinformation they are accepting and spreading about as truth, they believe it is a personal attack.

Why is this?

Is it a personality issue, a security issue or an ego issue? Or something else altogether?

And why, also, do so many of them claim "ancient pagan roots" or generations of Wiccans in their family (pretty much impossible past 3 possible prior generations, since Wicca didn't exist til 1951) when it's clearly not a fact?

It truly baffles me - you?

Fine, for some of us it is just a source of fun and killing time but there could be people out there who were influenced (however little) by this chaotic yet addictive part of Yahoo.
*waits for someone to come forward.
Thank you.

Someone told me the Dalai Lama is greedy and not what he appears to be. Do think that is true? I think he's a great man and he has to be the happiest person on earth. Nobody could fake that smile that just shines like he turned a light on. But I could be wrong! lol

How has your personal experience been when interacting with Muslims? Do they generally come across as fundamentalists or moderate, normal people?
Thank you.

Christians seem to be pretty happy to tell me I'm going. I dont think fear is a good reason to believe anything, but I'm not sure what I believe either. God certainly is quiet if he does exist.

What do you think of what this says? Does it shock you? Or did you already know this?

http://cpc.au.af.mil/terrorism.htm#islam

The Secretary-General stated that those acts are diametrically opposed to the religion and teachings of Islam, which proscribe the unjust taking of a human life and stress the sanctity of human life. Moreover, those acts are in clear contradiction with innumerable resolutions adopted by the Organization of the Islamic Conference which condemn terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and are also in contradiction with the Code of Conduct on Combating International Terrorism and the OIC 1998 Convention on Combating Terrorism, which makes it crystal clear that Islam repudiates and denounces terrorism and exhorts the Member States to "refrain from assisting or supporting terrorists in any way, shape or form, including the harboring of terrorists and granting them financial help or other forms of assistance."

I think the Dalai Lama is one of the more inspiring people alive. He has this light coming from him that is hard to ignore. He's always smiling and he's probably the most genuinely happy person in the world. He has been invited to many Christian events to speak. And he puts the Pope to shame in my opinion. He has something that the Pope just doesn't possess.

Do you think as a Christian that it's OK to look up to the Dalai Lama and admire him, but not worship him in any way?

This is not an attack on Islam (my husband is muslim), I'm just curious about the logic behind this observation I have personally made. Thank You.

I know this is not a question, but I feel that after an over whelming reply to my question, and over whelming P.M.'s, that I need to clear some things up...
First of all yes, the question was serious, second, I was in NO way "picking" on black people, or intending to come across rasicst.
I stated that the only response that i had ever gotten from this question was, about the "ape thing" The person who explained this ridiculos conclusion to me was a black man who was a decon at one of my friends churchs.
To " Icey Gazpacho" you stated I was just an "idiot white girl" who was married to a man who has a really good suntan-To answer your comment, yes I am white, and no, you are wrong, my husband is not a white man, he is from Ecuador, and is almost black....so no you are wrong, I am not a racist, and I am sorry you are n atheist, but I never said I was a christian, I was only curoius about this, because I wanted an answer(like every body else around here) and was mislead.

I have seen non-believers on here state they doubt he even existed. Aside from the Bible there are other mentions of him in historical records. Among these are the Jewish historian Josephus, the Roman historian Tacitus, Pliny the younger, the babylonian talmud, and Lucian of samosata. Even if you do not believe he was anything but a man isn't it kind of silly to deny he existed?

OK my BESTEST friend from high school, who LOVED me since we were freshmen and we finally hooked up our senior year and were engaged until our lives took us in seperate directions, came out about 6 yrs ago. Ok we were still super close and I would go and visit him a lot. The only difference in our relationship was no sex. For obvious reasons. Ok so all of the sudden he stopped calling me and we only talk these days via myspace and call sometimes. I only get to see him about once a year. I feel like he is avoiding me. I don't get it!!!! Any advice or similar situations??? Thanks in advance.
