Sure, if you look at christianity as a loose guideline for doing good things for others. There are religious people all over the world (not just christians), that have done wonderful things for the poor, starving, sick. There are those that would give you their last penny, or the shirt off their back, without asking for a conversion, or your undying belief in God. You don`t have to be a christian to do good things, just as you don`t have to be a sailor to tie a knot, but if you are, you sure know a good bit more about it.

Sure- if you get to know the real God of scripture. God is a terrific friend if you get to know Him personally. Everyone needs a friend, and He's totally trustworthy and reliable. God has spoken to us through His word. If you sit down and read what He has to say (try the new testament first) you might decide He's pretty cool to get to know. Just remember, the Bible is a history book, a morality book, and a love letter to man. You need to rightly divide it so you don't get the wrong impression about who God is. One great reason to believe in Him is that He will never lie to you, and He will teach you truth, if you are really interested in knowing it.

I am a Christian because I love the Lord. I am so very thankful for God sending his one and only son to die for me on the cross. My belief has nothing to do with my fear of hell. I don't agree at all that that's why people convert. People convert because the learn to feel the love of God and begin to realize all the wonderful things he has done for us.

Why believe in God? We can feel Him calling us.
Every culture throughout history has been convinced that there is a higher power that watches over them. This desire to reach for that higher power is man’s search to get reconnected to God. All of these people have the idea of God in their consciousness because deep in their hearts they know that He is there (Romans 1-2). Who put the desire in their hearts as well as our hearts that we should seek after Him? God did.
Why believe in God? The complexity of all life and of our planet
When we look to all of science, we can see that there is order and that there is a definite pattern to the layout and structure of not only the human body, but also the universe in which we live.
The distinguished astronomer Sir Frederick Hoyle showed how amino acids randomly coming together in a human cell are mathematically absurd. Sir Hoyle illustrated the weakness of "chance" with the following analogy: "What are the chances that a tornado might blow through a junkyard containing all the parts of a 747, accidentally assemble them into a plane, and leave it ready for take-off? The possibilities are so small as to be negligible even if a tornado were to blow through enough junkyards to fill the whole universe!"
Who created this universe in such a set a pattern that no man, when he looks carefully enough, can deny that the hand of God was used in its creation?
Why believe in God? Sense of right and wrong
Even from our earliest years we all have an innate sense of right and wrong. This “conscience,” as the world refers to it, keeps us in a moral as well as ethical balance and without it the world would break down into total chaos. Who put that sense of right and wrong in us? God did.
Why believe in God? The Bible
The endurance and longevity of the Bible should help us to see that there is a Creator. The Bible has existed for years, even though there have been numerous attempts to destroy or discredit it.
The Bible has existed for centuries and is still the best-selling and most read book in the world. Who made sure that the Bible would be around from generation to generation in order to ensure that His Word could still be read? God did.
Why believe in God? Jesus Christ
No other religious leader, not Buddha, Mohammed, or Confucius has ever claimed to be the Son of God. That is what Jesus did; He claimed to be God in the flesh. He not only claimed to be God, He backed up His claims through His life, death, and resurrection.
The presence of Jesus can still be felt today -- not only in all the lives that have been changed by Him, but also by the very idea that the structure and keeping of time has evolved around His birth. Who made sure that we would never forget His Son? God did.
Why believe in God? These are only five of the many reasons that point to the existence of God. Look at them carefully and you to will see that God has left evidence for us to see and to know that He is here!

Well, the problem with Christianity is this... God has to open your eyes to the Spiritual realm before you really can believe.
For the true Christian, it is difficult to make people understand because they cannot see.
Imagine you are living in a world of blind people and they all are attempting to eat food. You are the only one that sees. So you see some blind kid grabbing a bottle of rat poison and the kid thinks it's a Pepsi. You run over there and argue with the kid that it's not a Pepsi.
Then some adult who is as blind as the kid comes along and says, "It's okay to drink because I can see it's Pepsi." You attempt to wrestle the bottle out of the kid's hands to save his life, but this other yahoo has lied to the kid. The kid thinks you just want to deny him the joy of drinking a Pepsi when you're trying to share the truth that it's poison!
I wish that I could make people see the Spiritual reality, but I cannot. God has to make Himself real to those that He chooses.

I did not come to know and believe in God because I feared what He could do to me. Belief in God comes from divine grace. I think it was because of the many prayers of relatives and friends that I came to know God.

If you believe in God because of fear of hell, then you are already lost. Fear is a tool of the devil, not of God.

People shouldn't be driven to God by a threat of eternal torment. They should be drawn to Him by His promises of salvation, joy, love, peace, and eternal life. These are God's real treasures, and He bestows them generously on those who love Him.
