Within Tibetan Buddhism there are 4 schools. The heads of these four schools are each a little bit like a "pope" to their students but traditionally in Tibetan society they had no political influence. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is traditionally tutored in all 4 schools and has the joint role of being the spiritual and political leader of all Tibetan people. Some people argue that the Dalai Lama is only the head of the Gelugpa sect, but that's actually the task of the Panchen Lama (the world's youngest political prisoner who the Chinese kidnapped when he was 6 years old and he's never been seen since). Since Buddhism has been embraced in the west, His Holiness XIVth Dalai Lama, as the head of Tibetan Buddhism, is revered by people the world over who practice Tibetan Buddhism. Other Buddhist traditions have leaders of their own- some have no leader at all.

I think it's ok. There's nothing wrong with liking someone that's not the same religion. The Dalai Lama and the Pope both have different view of life and their beliefs. But, I think that they both share the belief that this world needs to change. they want what is better for the people. They are both very spiritual people. So there's nothing wrong. Worshiping the devil would be wrong lol. But all this is just my opinion. I'm sure others have different ways of looking at this.

Yes, it is alright. There can be God inspired people of other religions.
I admire Amma, or Mata Amritanandamayi the Hugging Saint who really practices what she preaches, teachings Unconditional Love, and honors Jesus at the same time at times.
But just don't get caught up in the celebrity cult, the Dalai Lama is just a human being who was chosen through "signs" that may or may not have been valid, and raised as religious royalty in a way.

Absolutely. It as ALWAYS OK to look up to & admire someone who does good things without expecting any sort of reward.
There are so few decent role models for kids & young adults in the media so go ahead, look up to the Dalai Lama...he's a great human being. If there were more people on Earth willing to do so much good then we would all be better off!

I think as a "Honk if your Jesus, otherwise shut the f. up" Christian, that the answer is yes.
I suggest you keep asking these questions and pursue your quest as you are one of the few with the ability to rise above the cult-like brain washing by so called Christians that makes you even ask this question.

Of coarse! Buddhists, in my opinion, show 'true' love. They believe that every little thing they do will effect them in their future lives so they are sure to be on their best behavior and not to intentionally lie or hurt anyone in their process of life. In Christianity, however, you say a simple prayer and all is forgiven! No punishment what-so-ever.

of course it's ok. i admire several people and learn from them. I believe God often speaks and works through people. who you admire is a reflection of where you are on your spiritual path. you must really be moving along!

Yes, in fact it is beautiful. It is perfectly okay to be open. It is wrong to worship Mohamad/Christ and blow other people up. It is when you are not open or have a fear of other ideas that allow someone to kill for satan or even worse kill for God.

It's ok to be Christian and admire other who are not, however, the Dali Lama is actually very greedy and is not who you think he is. So, you shouldn't idolize him based on that, not because he is of another faith than you.
