Do they have ministers now, or not?

2007-07-22 13:29:27 · 5 answers · asked by Pascha 7 in Religion & Spirituality

Human decisions are made from our cognative ability based on our 5 senses. For example, when a large semi-truck is speeding towards you an a highway, WHY does the normal person jump out of the way? What reason? Because the person is recieving visual data (light) being reflected off the truck, and possibly because you can hear it. But it's that combined with our cognative ability to understand what that data means. You come to the conclusion to jump out of the way because you can SEE the truck someing in the form of PHYSICAL DATA.

So, we make decisions based on data recieved from our sensations, It's an undeniable, psychological fact.

My question: How does a being that exists outside of the physical universe 'recieve data' to make decisions on? Does anyone else realize that it is impossible to make a decision without PHYSICAL INFORMATION to make a COGNATIVE choice based apon?

Rather, a president who is American by citizenship, meaning he was born here, but not by blood. Lets say an Arab Mexican who was born in the u.s.a? Will there ever be one? Why or why not?

Hey, I thought anyone who was born in the u.s.a has an equal opportunity to run for presidency ?

Maybe I'd like to run, and I'm Iranian Arab American.

Why were Jews the ones used as the scapegoat in the Holocaust?

Jewish people aren't known to be a drain on the economy [this is a prejudiced argument justifying the mistreatment of black people in the US and south asian people in the UK] many of them are professors, doctors, scientists; and they haven't be known to engage in terrorism here.

Physically they look more like white people [skin colour is a horrible reason to discriminate against people] but I'm saying I don't see what discriminatory grounds are used to justify anti-Semitism.

So why the Jews?

The Catholic Church is the Church Universal--"No one, let his almsgiving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Christ, can be saved, unless he remain within the bosom and the unity of the Catholic Church." (Pope Eugene IV, the Bull Cantate Domino, 1441.)

We have a "new thinking" now that those outside the Church can be saved like those who reject Christ as the Messiah and those who have left the Church and made up their own beliefs concerning salvation, many of them calling themselves Catholics.

What are your thoughts?

I counted today (Cheese and Rice asked if one of us would be willing to count -- so I did)

Here is my report:

It is the Sunday before Pioneer day (the day the first pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley) so I tract how many times the following were said:

Jesus Christ = 201
Joseph Smith = 1
Pioneer/Early Saints = 8
Brigham Young = 0
Gorden B Hinkley = 4
Ezra Taft Benson = 1
Spencer W. Kimble = 1

I attended Sacrament Mtg., part of Primary, part of Sunday School, and Priesthood Mtg. (Elders Q.)

Hinkley, Benson and Kimble are recent Prophets (Hinkley is our current Prophet)

Honorable mention: (Peoples names came up often that I did not plan to track)

Luke
Nephi
Lehi
Helamen
Harod
Pilot
Roman Soldier
Jonah

I saw this on one question, that Christians actually seemed to believe in various sciences...(genetics mainly) BUT Christians seem to reject science (I seen it on here....) *So* my question is, why are some Christians hypocritical? I know some responses but PLEASE at LEAST semi-intelligent answers please from both sides...but anyway, why is it that Christians believe in Genetics (chromosones, mutations, etc.) But not in microevolution, we have proof of that, (if I'm not mistaken, our immune system adapting and evolving to protect us from illness a prime example)

Can't we all agree that many roads lead to enlightenment. Do we have to keep chastising and killing each other over this very issue. Maybe we can all learn from each other.

What sort of person would choose a relationship with a mythological person out of fear of going to his made up hell for not believing in him?

…and don’t even think of trying to tell me you don’t attempt to scare people. I mean the cross, the symbol of Christianity, is a slow torture and murder device! Fear comes from ignorance; from not knowing and gradually ‘not knowing’ is declining. A few decades ago, the guy in thins clip would’ve had a much more attentive audience, but today, he’s mocked, scorned and ridiculed. But you guys probably think this is a sign of a morally depraved society, right?

Do Christians discount the Old Testament?

It seems that many Christians on here are quoting from the Old Testamnet, but many others, when someone mentions violence in the Old T., say something like ' But In the NEW Testament its different..."

I thought they were both the Bible, and Christians live by the Bible, so why not all of it?

I do shift work, I work night shift and work many weekends. I have trouble going to Mass due to my work schedule. I'm either having to work, sleeping for work, or exhausted from work.
If I watch a Mass on TV, is this as good, or at least good enough?
