You can only run for President if you are a natural born citizen (or as you say, American by blood)...

A person who obtains their American citizenship, after arriving in America, cannot run for president. No matter how qualified he is...

"If you're going to be involved in government in the United States, citizenship is a must. To be a Senator or Representative, you must be a citizen of the United States. To be President, not only must you be a citizen, but you must also be natural-born." http://www.usconstitution.net/consttop_citi.html

Well, if it's true that eons ago there existed only ONE land mass, then all humans are related and nobody 'came first.' As far as a President of the USA, as long as he/she was born here, he/she's as American as I am who's relatives came several generations ago. It's only when someone has not been born here, that it's an issue - and for good reason. Most - if not all - are more loyal to their country of birth than any adopted country. I would NEVER vote for someone who wasn't born and raised here.

Yes!

The first several presidents were British citizens at birth. America has been there, done that.

Who cares where they came from? It is their dedication to preserve, defend and protect the constitution of the united states which is the bare minimum for any presidential candidate, and their experience, leadership ability and morality which American voters care about. As long as they are born here, ,it doesn't matter how many generations ago their forefathers became citizens.

Can't figure the thumbs down for the Native answers. They are actually the only true blooded Americans. I guess the fundies just see them as heathens and not real Americans. We are the immigrants.

There never has been a president by blood ! He or she would have to be indigenous. The white folks carry European blood and the dark guys African blood. The Mexicans would be closer than both. Then again many Mexicans have Spanish blood.

If you have a citizenship, you are an American. That person would be American.

Some day, if white Christian American ever learns how to stop hating people, we may have a president like that.
