I saw this on one question, that Christians actually seemed to believe in various sciences...(genetics mainly) BUT Christians seem to reject science (I seen it on here....) *So* my question is, why are some Christians hypocritical? I know some responses but PLEASE at LEAST semi-intelligent answers please from both sides...but anyway, why is it that Christians believe in Genetics (chromosones, mutations, etc.) But not in microevolution, we have proof of that, (if I'm not mistaken, our immune system adapting and evolving to protect us from illness a prime example)

Oh and why do some people don't believe in Aliens (because of Biblical reasons) where there is PLENTY of evidence in Christian sources. (Some examples...Moses was supposedly led by a beam of light out of the desert ((though for the benefit of the doubt, he was in the desert for 40 years,)) or when Ezekial's son was taken into heaven ((Abduction)) Ezekial seeing four beings with four heads each next to four giant shields((ships?))

Ok, for those who said that Christians believe in micro but not macro, some people believe that all evolution is is macro, so I didn't know how many people actually believed that, sorry. Anyway, please try and answer my questions fully, just a little pet peeve of mine...anyway, maybe there isn't proof of it yet, but I'm just saying for those that don't believe for Religious reasons...oh and for Shadesofblue, PLEASE do tell me what you mean by "You need to get out more." And maybe the whole lunar eclipse only happening on Earth is because one, our moon is close to the size of Earth, so there is more chances for ecplises, we could just be in the right part of the cosmos for it, and since we'e not ON the other planets, how do we know what it is that we would see on said pieces of rocks?

Oh and 8trackmind, PLEASE do explain how I might have a simple mind and why I would want a simple answer? I'm not saying my mind is any more complex than an ants, but I would still like some proof of it.

the evidence for evolution is very clear bacteria and viruses evolve sometimes surpassing sciences attempts to eradicate them

I'm a Christian, but I do believe in an evolutionary period.
I believe that the Earth is billions of years old.
What I don't believe in is that life continued on without an interruption.
I believe that man as we know him today was a created being in the Garden of Eden.
As far as outer space and aliens, I don't know, but the scriptures that refer to four headed beasts, etc. generally will follow up with something to indicate what he's talking about.
Daniel 7:17: The four great beasts are four kingdoms that will rise from the earth.

Alright... Well on this question I'm going to need to do some research... Which is great!!! I do believe that science and God go hand in hand, but on the specific subject that you spoke of I want to make sure I know what I'm talking about when I come up with an answer... One of my favorite aspects of searching the bible is finding how both science and God coordinate... : ) Give me a little time... let me ask around...
:)
P.S. I tried to reply to your email, but I received a failure notice... I looked on your profile and you don't allow emails... If you would like... email me with your email.

I know a Christian who knows more about genetics than you do. Anyone who disagrees with what some people might call science; Global Warming and Ozone Hole crap; Evolutionary theory, isn't telling you that they don't believe in science. It means that they are careful with what politics is making of science.
Many see those things as politically funded science, or 'Junk Science.'

Many Christians, me included, are quite satisfied where evolutionary theory is headed both in a micro and macro sense.
As for aliens, there is simply no evidence; and this is so independent of *any* values one might want to conjure up for Drake's equation. This says nothing, of course, about how aliens might make their presence known, and how we might actually discover that presence.

In my experience, your facts are mistaken. I believe in microevolution, you're right, it's an obvious one. Science and God do not contradict each other, God created all the laws of science.
The only contradiction comes when "scientists" decide from the outset that God is not a possible factor in the outcome of their experiment. When they throw out His influence, they end up coming to ludicrous conclusions because they are unwilling to admit that God is real. That is where we get ape to man ideas.
Real science must be open to ALL possibilities, open mindedness is crucial to real discovery and real knowledge. I know many former athiests that tried to use science to disprove God, but they were open minded enough to admit it when they found God was the only choice at the end. Physics leads to God according to 2 brilliant men that I know.
Your "alien facts" are a little strange though. Moses was led thru the desert by a pillar of fire by day and a column of smoke by night. That was God. If you want to hear an educated Christian essay on aliens, check out Ron Rhodes' "Alien Obsession" - very interesting study.

I may get some thumbs down for this one but here we go.
Genesis 1:20
And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
Notice he said waters bring fourth fowl. I believe that animals did and still are evolving. I do not believe that Humans evolved, we were maid in the likeness of god.

True science does not discard data just because it might suggest a creator.
In fact science at its very essence is the study of God.
Romans 1
18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

I am a christian and I believe in evolution. I tie the two together. Science is just discovering how God's creation unfolds. I believe in aliens too. Just because genisis never mentions another active planet, doesn't mean there isn't any out there.
