I mean for, Christ's sake, the Harry Potter books seem more realistic.

My soon-to-be mother-in-law floods my inbox daily with emails she gets from other people. Just forwards them to me en masse, and all of them are Christian related. She sent me a doozy today - I'll link to it below so you can see what I mean.

My problem is this - should I tell her not to send things like this as they offend me? Should I block her addy, and if I do, does she get an email saying I blocked her? Or should I just delete them right away? I want to stay on relatively good terms with her for her son's sake, but I don't want to see this junk everyday either.

This surprisingly common argument reflects several levels of ignorance about evolution. The first mistake is that evolution does not teach that humans descended from monkeys; it states that both have a common ancestor.

The deeper error is that this objection is tantamount to asking, "If children descended from adults, why are there still adults?" New species evolve by splintering off from established ones, when populations of organisms become isolated from the main branch of their family and acquire sufficient differences to remain forever distinct. The parent species may survive indefinitely thereafter, or it may become extinct.

There is now NO REASON for you to make this ignorant statement EVER AGAIN..!
But will you..??

I was surfing the home page last year and came across a religious rant by a user named, "Elmo the Stoner". It made me laugh and I haven't left R&S since.

What's your story?

I am 23,i have a girlfriend. When i was in highschool i had an affair with a married man.Anyway he came back after moving away a few years ago and wants to pick up were we left off,but he left me hey!
I am happy with my girlfriend, hes bugging me.The fool has booked us(he and i)a holiday in august.I so dont want to go.He really is asking for a painful death.
I ignore his calls and delete his texts(HOW DID HE GET MY MOBILE NUMBER)
Whenever i am out he comes up to me and starts talking,i just smile, say hi then say i am busy and leave. Why cant he take the hint that he should get lost already?
Maybe i should hire a hitman..(not serious, but sometimes i feel like banging my own head on a brick wall).

(I posted this in 'singles and dating' but reposting and re-edited this,as to be honest i am on the verge of crying and its not something i do.)
Add-also i denied it all to my girlfriend.Should i come clean with her, maybe she could help?

why rely on some made up person you've never met. that's like....say I went looking for a date on the internet, then I see this guy, we spend 2 years talking. that whole time he's asking where I live. I avoid the question. the guy I met tells me all about him, and he sounds like the perfect guy. then I meet him and find out he's a 60 year old pervert who has been to jail 9 times. how do you know that's not like god?

I have found this phenomenon interesting. You go to a typical Asian church (Chinese, Japanese, or Korean) and the majority of the people don't care about important theological issues. The Bible studies are usually just "fellowship" hangouts where they just discuss their weekday troubles or gossip about the latest news. I find that many Asian Christians just want to use church as a country club or a place they can just feel comfortable. A place not to worship God, but just to feel a sense of community. I disagree with this way of doing things. However, people who call me judgmental are usually the ones who don't want to repent and change their ways to conform to Scripture. They just want to persist in their disobedience to God. We are called to judge fellow Christians who are disobedient to the Word. Why don't so many people see that?

"I used to ask myself why [my students] believed what I taught them.... I finally concluded that most students believe me because they trust me, they feel that I have their best interests at heart and that I would not deliberately deceive them by teaching things that I myself did not believe. They also trust the institution that awarded me a physics PhD, and the university and the physics department that hired me and allow me to teach them. And I use that trust to effectively brainwash them. We who teach introductory physics have to acknowledge, if we are honest with ourselves, that our teaching methods are primarily those of propaganda."

And in a word or two, describe what you see through each of their eyes that has changed the way you were....or what has made you better as to what you are today?

Try not to refer to the "Bank of Dad" as I already know that one.

Two days ago I ask a question about the hate on this planet and the principal answer from the Christians is that Satan is in charge (at least for the moment). If this is true why God allow that?

Can you imagine Jesus sitting on a hill by the beach, and the masses listening to him tell about "faith the size of a mustard seed". That would be awesome!

I believe so. I study theology, I know what I am talking about. Unlike many of you so-called Christians who embrace this unbiblical teaching, I actually have a theological education and studied the Bible intensely.

This happened to me when I was young. I hated it. My aunt meant well because she thought I would like it. I had a turtle collection (not real ones). I was afraid to even touch it. I can't remember what I said. It was polite, but inside I wanted to scream. What would you have done?

I am trying to set up a study on the fear of the Lord, I need to ask how does someone teach on the fear of God the right way. I know that if your were taught to fear God the wrong way when your young it can hurt a child in a long run..we teach them God is Love and then you tell them you have to fear God. I have found a couple scriptures on fear that if you would like share your thought on them and if you have any that would be better to explain please let me know..All are welcome to answer but it is mostly for believers to answer. Thanks
Isaiah 8:13 (King James Version)

Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

1 Peter 2:17 (King James Version)
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

I just don't get what killing an animal has to do with a relationship with a god. Why do you follow a religion that demands blood sacrifices, whether you follow Christianity or Santoria??

i think i finally figured it out last night! the only reason people are christian, or follow a GOD is because they are insecure about themselves. and dont want to make decisions on thier own. like "hey you wanna go drink tonight?"...."no sorry its a sin to do that" yeah see they all make up excuses for themselves! they cant answer "no i dont want to" they have to have an escuse! its so SIMPLE! ok so who's with me?
