i think i finally figured it out last night! the only reason people are christian, or follow a GOD is because they are insecure about themselves. and dont want to make decisions on thier own. like "hey you wanna go drink tonight?"...."no sorry its a sin to do that" yeah see they all make up excuses for themselves! they cant answer "no i dont want to" they have to have an escuse! its so SIMPLE! ok so who's with me?

hi! I am not offended, and you seems a bit angry? To drink really is a sin for some also you know? By that I mean the people that drinks every day, comes home a beat their woman and their children, see, that is a real sin! To believe in something seems to be the way of people. I call myself a christian now, I was a non believer for many years, but some thing happened that made me believe once again. I still drink a beer or ten though, but not every week. I don`t believe there are a sin having fun with or without alcohol, however to become violent, something way to Manny people does when they get drunk, that is another story, there are no excuse to say I don`t remember the day after you know. We humans, do a lot we know we should not! Does that make that a sin? no I don`t think so, but I do believe it shows us how stupid we are sometimes, and in the long run, maybe it is safer to say no anyway, and go for a Pepsi instead? you sure as h..l wake up much better the day after. ha ha ha, peace and love from Norway

Religion and the bible is nothing more than an attempt to create some sort of law an order, back in a time when people who were in power as kings or rulers needed something to use as a false reward for obeying their rules of order.
If it were at all true, then there would be only one truth for all people, and not used as a reason to break the rules by creating a god that has rules that apply to only the people in your gang, or group that hopes to rule the the land.

Brittany,
I have been able to say no to drugs and alcohol way before Christ came into my life. I am very outspoken and out-going.
I hear bitterness in your tone. If you were secure in your agnosticism, you wouldn't need to air your negative opinions on this forum. I don't have a need to bash other religions, agnostics, atheists or anyone. You talk about Christians hating other religions, but I hear in your voice a great disdain for Christians. I feel for the sadness and anger within you.
I don't hate other religions at all. I respect many of the things other religions teach. I just know that the only way to true happiness and peace is through Christ and I am sad for those who don't have the peace that I have and I want to share with others how to get that peace.
I am in no way insecure. I don't even think a glass of wine every now and then is a sin. Christ drank wine in the Bible. Laws are in the Bible to keep people from making a mess of their lives. Too much drinking and drunkeness leads to alcoholism, promiscuity, STD's, AIDS, and bad choices. Breaking the commandments leads to guilt and shame. God doesn't want those things for us. He shows us how to live so that we can be truly happy, not just have moments of physical pleasure. If you don't come to realize this beforehand, when your life gets out of control and/or some tragedy happens and you don't know what your purpose here on earth is, remember, there is a way to redeem yourself and start over. There is meaning and purpose. Find someone and have them lead you to Christ and you can start over. Hopefully, you will do that before life gets out of hand because I wouldn't want you to go through that much pain. Sincerely, yours in Christ

Christians use the commandments to make judgments as to whether others are their equals. Most christians I've known have the "do as I say, not as I do" attitude, meaning it's ok for them to make mistakes, but you are not worthy of their acknowledgment if you've done, or do, something that they can use to put you down. I, personally, expect people to be no better, or no worse, than me. If I met someone that I feel is above me, I try to learn from them, but not idolize them. If I feel that if someone is a negative influence, I will not associate with them. I am Wiccan. Not Christian.

Well, first of all I don't agree with walking around not caring if you offend people. I'm also not offended by you but I do believe in God. Not everyone who believes in God uses religion as an excuse not to do something "bad" or something they don't want to. I do believe people will hide behind religion but I'm not one of those people. Please don't group us all into one place like that. If I don't want to do something, I just say I don't want to do it. My main goal is to try and be a good person. I'm not into religion (I was raised in a religious home) but I do believe in God.

You seem to know alot about people you have never met. So what makes you the authority on others?
I am a Christian because I believe Jesus is the Son of God and that He died for my sins. He showed an unconditional love for me by dying on the cross for me (and for you) so I have no problem trying to do my best to be a good, loving person the way He wants me to be ~ and the way He was when He walked on this earth.
I wonder why it bothers you so much that others think it's a sin to drink and don't want to join you? Why can't you learn to respect their position in life rather than look down on them or criticize them?
And if you really believe in all this rubbish you have posted, why do you need others to agree with you and back you (and I quote, "ok so who's with me?") ~ afraid to stand alone or just wanting to mock others because they don't agree with you? Just as we have a right to our opinions and beliefs, so do you but I don't need you or anyone else to side with me to make me feel better or to make my belief anything different.
I truly hope you will find peace some day but for now, you seem to be the insecure one, the only who is angry and aggravated because some don't want to do what you want. Maybe it's time to take a deep look at yourself and grow up a little and be at peace that others think and believe differently than you do and most of all, that they have the RIGHT to do so.
I do not smoke or drink because I don't like the outcome of either and I think they are both a waste of money and that money can be used to help those who have chosen to work in the mission field. I also lost both parents because of their smoking and I lived with enough grief in my life because of several in the family who drank, my father being one of them so don't tell me I have to agree that drinking is ok. Maybe you need that drink so you feel secure with who you are and what you belief. I don't need to booze to back me or give me courage but apparently you do.
If someone chooses not to drink or smoke, it shouldn't be any concern of yours. If you asked them to go to the bar for a drink and they say no, why can't you compromise (if you really like the person) and go to a restaurant where you can still visit?
Does everything have to be done your way all the time or can you learn to accept others for the way they are because that is the course of life they choose, even if it's contrary or different than your ways?
Maybe it's time to look at yourself and try to figure out what your motives are for a post like this, for not caring if you hurt others (I'm sure not hurt, just saddened by your attitude) and for not loving yourself. I hope you can learn to do that someday.
Because of Him

"My religion is kindness" quote by Mahatma Gandhi.
Keep in mind that some ppl are not taught to be assertive or inquisitive, as you obviously were. Take a minute to appreciate that about yourself. It will help you have more compassion towards those without your advantage and may encourage them to seek the same.

It's not the only reason, but it's a popular one. There are many other reasons to be religious, and few people only have one.
It's great that you figured this out (I mean that), but don't think you've figured it ALL out. For instance, you keep referring to Christians as a collective. You seem to assume that all Christians act the same way and think the same things. You seem bright. Keep thinking, and you'll figure out why that's wrong.
Good luck!

I'm not offended, but I think you may be ignorant. :) I am a Christian, and I am full of confidence. Oh, and I drink, and I go out and have a good time with my friends...*shocking* some of them are atheists! I believe God is about love and as long I treat others properly and have my life prioritized then it doesn't matter what I do. God is not my excuse for anything.

Well, I'm glad you came to your own conclusions. It's a bit harsh, but has truth to it.
Insecurity leads people to search for a group with which to belong.. this also then leads to a sense of superiority and arrogance which is rampant in christianity.
They're not all like that.. but there are so many that are, it's hard to see the good ones.
