What an endearing question. I would say this was a gift exchange!! Never thought of it that way before, and I gave my heart to Jesus some 61 years ago !!

Those clowns who answered before me are just that. You aren't really giving a gift to Jesus, you are giving a commitment. In exchange you are freely given the gift of forgiveness and eternal life by God's grace. That is a blessing.

Lol.
I like how you put that, but I don't think that qualifies as a gift exchange, because Jesus paid for your heart and your devotion with His own life.

As long as you understand what it means to do so it's good news.
Mark 7:21
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

So you gave Jesus your sin and He gave you life... That is His mission.. If this is true.. I am indeed your brother in Christ... Jim

No, because neither of you gave a gift. You were both expecting something in return. That is not a true gift.

Yes, it is a gift (Ephesians 2: 8 - 10) 8For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. www.mylordmysavior.com

No, I think it is a bribe to do the right thing. Feels good to be saved, doesn't it? I love being manipuluated into 'what is best for me'

No -- the gift is given to us. We accept it. Jesus does not need us.

Me too but I think He got the rotten end of the deal. My rotten heart for his excellence.
