If you do believe in god. (Note: This does not have to be the Christian god.)

I am am an atheist, and curious as to what reasons religious people have for being so.

And please, don't give answers that are not answers, or that have a basic meaning similar to "OMG ur goin 2 hell!!" Because I would like genuine answers, and not bashing.

For fellow atheists, feel free to explain why you don't believe in any god, same rules as above.

I have heard this so many times and it is unbelievable how many people actually believe it. First off, Jews were not around til the birth of Judah which happened thousands of years after God created Adam. The Noahide laws say nothing about non-jews giving offerings or sacrifices yet Adam's sons Cain and Abel were doing it and Cain made an offering that displeased God (which is sin). Therefore, he obviously broke a commandment on sacrificing. Plus, in the Prophets it specifically says the Nations will have to come to Jerusalem to participate in the Feast of Booths (another non Noahide law) or it will not rain on their land. In addition, Jews are only descended from the tribe of Judah, while God chosen nation of Israel is 12 tribes which are scattered across the earth. I could list many other errors in the 7 noahide law theory but, if people read the Bible they will see these things.

abuse and neglect are even greater problems. Since most cases go unnoticed and unreported, no one knows how many millions of children are being affected by these kinds of abuse. Studies say that mothers are just as likely to abuse their children as fathers are. In fact, the majority of physical abusers are mothers. Child abuse is not just found in lower class & minority groups but in every social and economic class of people. Even Christian parents are not immune from this problem. Christians are probably the most susceptible to emotionally abusing their children. It is the most subtle kind of abuse and most parents are not aware they are doing it.
What kind of abuse is subtle abuse, how do we describe it?
Would you say that scars left from emotional abuse often last longer and do more damage than those from physical or sexual abuse? What causes parents to become abusers? And do you agree that mothers are more likely to be the abusers than the fathers?

After all to do so would limit him/her/it/them and thus they would no longer be infinite. Indeed to follow this line of thinking to the extreme it could be said that all religion is heresy. For all religions attempt to define God and in the process limit his/hers/its/their infinity. Thoughts.........

Mormon Inc' always made a big deal out of the fact that Joseph Smith ran for President. Well obviously he didn't win, not even close, but they make it sound like it was a big deal.. Probably more in the likes of Beau Grites.

So does your religion make you want to vote for a Mormon or do you think outside the box and vote for the person that you feel is best qualified?

...5.45 a.m. Wednesday morning U.S. Central Time. I'll be gone for two weeks. I thought now is as good a time as ever to say I'm really glad I met you all, especially but not limited to Teacher, Mark S, One Love, gratvol, Heron by the Sea, rocknrob, Lea, L'Chaim, Emet Ha'Agur, inat, allonyoav, Sawyer, Mozes, Lokasenna, and Susan. I know there are more (especially more atheists) but I cannot think of them right now. Some of you I know personally, some of you I have learned great things from and wish to thank you now and recognize you for the nice things you have done. I also wanted to ask you to pray for me (if you pray) or think of me on the plane...because I am really nervous about the flight and this is a way to calm myself down the night before. Haha! Just kidding. Honestly guys, I wanted to thank you. See you in two weeks and peace to you all :-)

What everyone needs is love, right?

For religions people :
What if, an "unbeliever" saved your life, or that of your loved one. Would your attitude toward "unbelievers" be for the better afterward? - If so, why isn't it now? Aren't we all just humans that need love? Do you really need something that drastic to happen before you realize that?

For secular people :

I was born and raised Mormon and am actually descended from six of the original twelve. I don't understand why so many people bring up that Brigham Young had so many wives. He was just a man like the rest of us so he can't be expected to act perfect all of the time.

Why does it really matter surley god would be a lot mare pissed off about all the needless distruction of the world he made. I think it just natures way iof keeeping the population down..
