The Church misrepresents Jesus. Jesus was non judgemental but Churches are so judgemental. Do you agree?

I am completely confused now after reading the responses to a question I asked about knowledge of the Bible.

Many people said it is more important to accept Christ first, then you can spend time studying the Bible. But how do you know what you are really accepting if you haven't read "the word of God" first?

An answerer suggested it (joining Christianity before reading the Bible) is like signing a legally binding contract before you even read it over. Why would anyone do that?

Also, if knowing what the Bible contains is not nearly as important as just accepting Christ....why do so many people quote the book as if it provides proof of anything?

How important is this book?

Just an informal poll. I was wondering if most atheists are also, like me, non-believers in other aspects, as well.
Do any of you believe in:
Astrology
UFO's (alien in nature)
Reflexology
Bigfoot
Loch Ness Monster
9/11 conspiracy
JFK Conspiracy

or any other paranormal phenomenon or conspiracy theory.

I think I know the answers, but just curious, Thanks!

Sometimes, little children create an "imaginary friend' to make them feel more liked, or less frightened, or just plain happier.

When they're in this stage, there's no talking them out of it. The child will generally tell you how great it is to have an imaginary friend, how you should have one too, and how you should interact with their imaginary friend. It's an all-consuming stage in childhood.

Then they grow up.

If a child were to enter adolescence still clinging to this belief, we'd have them in psychiatric care in a heartbeat. Nobody would question that believing in an imaginary friend in ones teens is crazy.

But as a society, we casually accept (even encourage) the wholesale belief of an imaginary parent - god - which is just as ridiculous.

90% of this world is suffering from an adult mental disorder called religion, and because everyone is in agreement, we're supposed to accept that this delusion is not harmful.

How do we get the world to grow up?

There is absolutely no room for discussion or debate on anything, and I'm pretty sure back and forth discussion in the the question/answer segments is against community guidelines.

1.) Why did Queen Elizabeth II become queen instead of her mother when her father died? 2.) Is Phillip known as the King of England and does he have any power? 3.) If Elizabeth were to die who would become king; would Phillip take over or Prince Charles. 4.) If for example Prince Charles had an older sister...who would take the throne if Queen Elizabeth died.

Art is not forbidden in Islam. So why do people, especially in the west, like to make this claim about us? I, myself, love to do arts and crafts, and many muslim women have asked me to crochet blankets for their soon-to-be-born babies after seeing the ones I made for my own. What does this site make you feel about art in Islam? How do you feel about this quote?

"The faith of Islam arose in western Arabia with God's revelation to the Prophet Muhammad (ca. 570-632) by the angel Gabriel. These sacred messages were written down by 651 as the holy book, the Qur'an. In 622 Muhammad left Mecca for Medina in a journey called the hijra which marks the beginning of the Muslim calendar (1 A.H.). In 630 he designated Mecca the spiritual and geographical center of Islam."

trying to find someone smarter than you who has the same beliefs as you do. It's quite apparent that you guys are not that confident in your beliefs if you have to find someone smarter than you to tell you your right. How about you guys try thinking up with your own reasons for believing the way you do rather than mindlessly following some guy with a PhD. Quit quoting people like Stephen Hawking and Carl Sagan and start thinking for yourselves.

Why do I see repetitive questions daily to prove God exists or does not exist. In your heart you can feel what is right. If you chose to deny God do so without questioning if he exist or not, you've already made up your mind. I've seen miracles far greater than one can even imagine, I've been a recipeint of miracles. My question why does this barraqe have to continue?
