Dont even get involved, I am telling you from personal experience. They seek you out when you are at your most vulnerable. Once they get their hooks into you, they got you. I discovered the members are backstabbing, vengeful liars. LDS tried and very nearly succeeded in destroying my marriage, family and life and turning my kids against me. (They actually told my son that I didnt love him because I wouldnt join. It is also in their childrens literature.)
The founder of the cult, Joseph Smith was a plagiarist, arsonist, polygamist, child molester, rapist and murderer, this is all factual and documented (of course they excuse it).

There are tons, um let's see. Charly, by Jack Weyland. Excellent book. Very sad though so if you're a crier, keep some tissues nearby. Actually anything by Jack Weyland is great. The Work and Glory series... very good. Fictional about when the church was starting but has a lot of facts in there. (They were made into movies too, which are also really good.) Actually, here's a link to a whole bunch of them. http://www.annebradshaw.com/links.html

Try "Portals of the Night" by Dennis C. Farley. It sort of a thriller type book with mormons. Go figure.

This book isn't fiction, but it is by one of my favorite authors, Jon Krakauer. It is called UNDER THE BANNER OF HEAVEN. Jon Krakauer has written wonderful books like INTO THIN AIR and INTO THE WILD. His books, even though they are nonfiction are so engaging that I can never put them down.
