Read the question, don't say **** like "That's not possible", and "I know He is real because I can feel his love." And PLEASE for the love of God don't put any of those stupid bible quotes in or I swear in the name of Jesus Christ I will ***** slap you. God, I wish that when I die I'd be able to find out if he wasn't real. If he wasn't I'd be laughing so hard for the longest time. I'll probably be going straight to hell if he is though, I know, i don't need every single person telling me I'm possessed by the devil and what not. :)

Or maybe it's in an old book, is that it?
Or maybe your truth is in the future?
If you can not know the truth right where you are, what good is it? ~ : )

If God made me an Atheist who would I be!
I could not believe can't you see!
How can I go to hell it was God's call!
Is it my fault that people think I will fall!
Listen Christians It was Jesus who chose you!
If you think it wasn't than you are a fool!
I am making a point can't you see!
To be who God created you to be!
There is a reason why people who they are!
Have you learned that or haven't you got that far!
I am trying to say it's not our choice!
Read Romans chapter 9 it will voice!
How can you tell the potter what pot to make!
We have to live our life and not be fake!
That's not to say witnessing is bad!
But without compassion it is sad!
God could make anyone who He wants them to be!
Because it is His choice now can you see!
The End!

A close friend to my husband and I commited suicide 2 yrs ago. He and his family were Catholic. I often worry about his soul and where it may be. And I worry about his mother....and what must she must be thinking (will I ever see him again? etc)

I don't know much at all about the Catholic religion. Is it believed that your soul will go to hell if you terminate your own life? Or is there a chance of forgiveness?

New Earth creationists claim that the Universe is about 6000 years old. Ok, if the Universe is 6000 years old, answer this. We know the speed of light is about 3.0x10^8 meters per second. A light year is the distance light travels in one year. Some of the galaxies astronomers can see with telescopes are millions of light years away from us. That means that the light from these galaxies would take millions of years to reach us. If it takes millions of years for the light to reach us, then obviously 6000 years is not enough time for the light from these galaxies to have reached us. If the Universe is only 6000 years old, then why can we already see the light from these galaxies?

We're so good at patting ourselves on the back when good things happen in the world, but who's really to blame when things go wrong? Shouldn't it be the other way around? For example, why do so many people blame God for not ending world hunger and famine, when He has given us the means to end it ourselves?

Why was there a war in heaven? Who would want to leave God and Paradise and go it alone? Why would they choose that?

Does God know the future? Does he know what decisions he will make? Does he know where your soul is going to end up? He is omnipotent, so you would think he knows these things... but what about free will?

And why doesn't God just reveal Himself completely to us? Why do we have to come to Him and find faith and love Him objectively on some big journey? Why did God create us in this manner? Why did he not just create more angels who live right there with him?

Why is there so much confusion in the world? Why is there so much suffering? Why do bad people seem to get rich and lead such happy and prosperous lives?

Why?

Thanks.

PS - I ask these questions with a bit of an 'in your face' attitude. But I do ask all of these questions very sincerely nonetheless. I am a Christian, who, like my many brothers and sisters struggles from time to time.

I am reading David Mills's "Atheist Universe". In page 78, he refered as it

Atheists celebrate the Winter Solstic, which has been recognized since ancient times as the shortest day of the year ( December 25th by the Julian calendar). The ancients celebrated this day because they realized that they had "rounded the corner" and, soon, the days would grow longer and longer, and their crops would once again provide sustenance.

Duraing the early days of Christianity, believers tried to persuade the ruling authorities to establish a legal holiday to commemorate Jesus' birth. But the governing authorities refused. So the Christians deided that "if you can't beat them, join them" and there after clebrated Jesus' birth on an already-estiblashed holiday: the Winter Solstice (December 25th). Pope Gregory XIII later revised the ancient Julian calendar; and so the clandar we use today - the Gregorian clandar - moves the Winter Solstice back a few days to December 21st.
