Ok steven is that so, then why dont the boy scouts say that no black, or jewish children can be in the scouts, i bet that make front news pages. Its the same thing, were being hated for our beliefs and thats not right, no matter what we believe.

Yes, it is illegal in some states constitutions for a declared Atheist to run for public office. I think that is unfair and I would be willing to vote to change that.
We are not called to hate anyone, for we are all made in the image of God. We war not against flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities and spiritual wickedness in high places.

Interesting.
I guess I would wonder when the law was made, and why....was it so a communist couldn't take an office? for example, or, was it tossed in there in the hopes of evening out something someone else had thrown in to the pot?
As for athiests being the most untrusted, I don't know..... some are pretty honest and tell you they do not believe, while others pretend to be something they are not just so they can slink between the lines....But, I see this in all types of people, not just athiests....
I would venture to say that it is because an athiest doesn't care whom a person is, they will most likely attack a non believer as a believer, LOL and for politicians, for example, this would be a fearsome problem LOL
As for the Boy Scouts....seems to me an athiest wouldn't want to say the pledge, nor would they agree with many of the other codes of ethics within their club, so, why would it be a problem to not be allowed to join?

Yes this is America, but as I'm sure you have realized by now that its supposed to be the "land of the free" it really isn't all that it's cracked up to be. There are so many different laws and restrictions on things that really how can anyone be "free". Don't get me wrong a lot of the laws that we have are great and this country would be very chaotic if we didn't have them, but the others are just ridiculous. I mean if you aren't going to hurt yourself or others then what's the big deal?
Which I totally think goes with your atheist's not being able to run for office, what should it matter what denomination you are. Then again if people couldn't make these silly laws or regulations or have hate for others for one reason or another, then what else would they do???

It's ILLEGAL for an atheist to run for office in some states? Are you serious?
This is the most shocking thing I've read all day.
Can someone post a link to a reputable source on this? Same with the Boy Scouts thing.

The Government, News Media and Religions are always ramming God down everyone's throat. There is no religious freedom for non-believers. And believe it or not, not everyone in Government, the News Media and Religion believes that there is a man living in a cloud. Religion is used as a method of control Worldwide.

The Scout oath says "I will do my duty to God and my country" which would be contrary to their belief anyway.
And I'm sure that applies to most of the oaths taken in this country when a person takes office. This country was founded on the belief of God as our Maker.

It is not right for anyone/thing to be hated except sin. It does not say so much that they are hated as opposed to they are not the desired candidates for the majority of Americans in desired offices. Each group or organization have their own constitutional rights to allow who they want and don't want in their ranks. May God Bless U.

yes I agree what you believe or do not believe should have nothing to do with politics and as for the child being denied the right to be a boy scout , that's crazy. It's not a religious group is it? (were as to be a member means practicing religion)
and what states?

I think that is terrible and I am a Christian. No one should be excluded from anything because of a belief system that they hold, or for any other reason.
I am from Canada and do not know if that is the same here, I have never heard that and I truly hope it is not the case here.

They know the atheists are right. People who make up crap about something know that if they keep fighting, they will lose. Trust me, I've argued with at least 200 christians (and won) and they've all replied "You're gonna burn in hell. Let's see your atheist god help you now, _____!" They know they can't fight the facts. So by saying that, they were unconsciously admitting defeat. So the atheists are right, and the religious part of our country knows it, but doesn't want to admit it.
