Try your local volunteer center. Most volunteer centers have teen volunteer programs that can match you with volunteer projects or other non-profit agencies.

Before you get that ambitious...
Ask youself this...
Why not help those individuals around you...neighbors, friends, family, homeless people in your own neighborhood, pets, yourself...on a day to day basis...?
Your thinking is noble and right, but start with those around you, first (and be charitible to yourself...teen years are not suppose to be years of your life spent solving the world's problems at the expense of your own need for occasional selfish fun...
Balance out your vast, generous heart filled with compassion for other people...
With a generous helping of some personal fun...
Great idea, but a little too much, a little too early...
Wait a little bit while you help people around you, rather than some faceless charitible corporation who only doles out 8% of incoming contributions to do what they actually say they do...
Studies have found that less than 10% of the donations that charities receive actually get funneled to the people who they say their doing so much good for...(charity is now a billion dollar industry...and the bigger it gets, the less good it actually does...the point of diminishing returns and beyond...
A+ for thinking that way, but D- for being too innocent to know the world is mostly about the all mighty dollar...
Billion dollar corporations run on their own steam...
And their CEO's are enslaved by the ludicrously enormous wealth they've become very fond of...

FIrst of all, I think its great that a 14 yr old would have this sort of mentatlity at such a young age. I commend u on your desire to be of service to others. There are many groups u could join, not sure what's in your area but ur willingness to serve others presents itself everyday of ur life. U can assist others in ur day-to-day life by being kind and seeing a need someone has and assisting them with that need. That's really the greatest service we can offer, an honest desire to help those we have the ability to help. Should u live your life in this manner, your life will be filled with the greatest gift that life has to offer, and that's the gift of love for your fellow man. Keep your heart and mind where it is, u won't have to seek for an organization to join, they will find u. I'm truly thankful for people like u. Spread what u have to others. Good fortune to u.

I am 15, but I have been volunteering for around 4 years now. I try to find local events that are in need of help. Maybe a bowl-a-thon, or some baseball games that are raising money for something. What is a REALLY good idea is to collect stuffed animals or kid books and then bring them to your local childrens hospital for the kids. I did that, and when I saw the smile on the kids faces, it was great.

There are always great local organizations. You can volunteer at your local YMCA, or 4H club. You can get involved in local politics. Attend your city council meetings. You can have your own voice if needed. Keep your eyes open. You don't have to belong to an organization to help. Scouting is always good too.

Americorps (Peace Corps in America)
Habitat for Humanity
Local food banks
Local woman's shelter
Local animal shelter
Nursing homes

- After locating these organizations in your area just call and tell them you're interested in helping and your age. They'll coordinate from there.

Good luck!

When I was your age, I volunteered at a Convalescent Home. It was great. The old people just loved to have me come play games with them, and talk to them. There were plenty that did not see their families very often, so they looked forward to seeing me. It was soooo worthwhile!

It might sound depressing: but i volunteer at a hospice, i visit and hang out with people in nursing homes and things like that., that are terminally ill. They are always good company and have great stories to tell... its really fulfilling.
