If a person is not proven guilty until there is enough evidence to prove he committed a crime... Then couldn't Christians use the argument that God exists until there is enough evidence to prove he does not?

I guess those who do not believe in a higher power could say it would work the other way as well "God does not exist until proven that he does".... but with the acceptance that "faith" is a true and valid human response/emotion... Then you would have to disprove faith first to use the argument in favor of him NOT existing.

Side note - Do those who do not believe in God have faith in things other than God? That is - In things that you cannot see?

Just thinking out loud. Please do not be rude or attack me personally. I value your opinion whatever view you hold.

What if someone in this day and age said that just like the writers of the Bible that God had spoken to them and had a message for everyone and insisted that God wanted them to add their conversation to the Bible, would it be hard for you to believe?

If you would find this hard to believe, then I think you at least have a better idea of the skepticism that atheists have. After all, if God is there and used to talk to people, it shouldn't be all that hard to believe that God would do so again if you really believe God did so in the first place, right?

Is it that much trouble? Why does everyone believe that their holy book is right? Why can't you keep it to yourself? Y'know what, I'm an Animist and my sister is a Muslim, and we don't attempt to convert each other! I believe we all should have the right to believe whatever you want, but when people get militant about it(i.e. Creationism, Jihad in cases), we ALL suffer. Hehehe, done ranting. He told me very eloquently that it was to keep him ever close to my heart. I am just wondering if this was something sweet he came up with or if potentially he was following a tradition. I know that fraternity guys "pin" or "lavelier" their girlfriends. Boys in high school give their girlfriends their letterman jacket or their class ring. Do military men (or more specifically guys in the army) give their girlfriends their dog tags?
