No, it says Honor your parents that your day may be long upon the land. It has been twisted to convey the opposet for disobeying.

Consider the sourse of those answerers that are telling you it does. They are twisting the actual words as well.

HELLO! Remember THE NEW COVENANT?? All these answers leave me astonished, and in the words of Paul,"I WONDER WITH GREAT WONDER!" The law was with Moses, but grace and truth came with Yeshua(Jesus). How about reading Romans, Galatians,Ephesians,Colossians,Hebrews, etc. ..Yeshua(Jesus) paid the sin debt IN FULL. He is The only High priest and spotless lamb of God who full filled All the righteous requirements of The Law. The Jewish high priest had to go in once a year and it was not ever eternal, but Yeshua(Jesus) tore down the middle wall that opened up full access once again to fearlessly have fellowship with Creator God.The law was given as a tutor to reveil to man WHAT SIN IS, and deal with it right away , Until Christ Jesus finish his work on the cross, and resurrection! One was stoned for many sins in the Under the Old Covenant, but we have been given Better a Covenant(Hebrews 8:6)But now,He (Christ),has acquired a priestly ministry which is as much supeiorer and more excellent (than the old)as the covenant, the agreement of which He is the mediator is superiour and more excellant;because it is enacted and rests upon more important(sublime, higher, and nobler)promises. For if the 1st Covenant had been without defect, there would have been no room for another one.Hey! Yeshua was the torah personified,He is the ONLY way to The Father to those who are in faith, 1 John2:1,My little children, I write you these things that you do not violate Gods law and sin;BUT IF ANYONE SHOULD SIN, we have an Advocate(one who interceeds for us)with The Father; Jesus Christ The (all righteous),upright, just,Who confirms The Fathers will in every thought and action. The law is for the lawless, not the righteous, those who by grace(unearned favor) through faith(trusting God) have obtained( freely ) This new access through The freely offered blood of Yeshua, and to all who trust Him Life eternal.RIGHT DOING DOES NOT CREATE RIGHTEOUSNESS, RIGHTEOUSNESS CREATES RIGHT DOING. Out of overwheming gratude to Our life abundant giver!!

this is a HUGH distortino of what the text says a and what it means, and then take in to acocunt that there has never been a case where it happened -

basically becasue the children has to 'disobey' the voice of the mother and the father - in other words the parents have to be SOOOOOOOOO in sync with each other.

its not a short issue for Yahoo answers.

call your local orthodox rabbi and he can tell you all the details.

No .

I have read in the Old Testament that they were allowed somehow to beat their children , (I don't know of what age), but it was forbidden to kill them.

The one who does something bad to a child ...it is a critical situation..but God also..preached ..His forgiveness...

We have a comandment , an order from God''You shall not kill!''So it is forbidden to kill , and those who kill must be educated and we have to forgive them...but not kill them back , because it is forbiden to kill. Killing is something coming from satan..
When in the Old Testament , God said that some must be killed..it didn't come from us , (because we must not kill)it came from Him , He used to talk in a loud voice and tell the priests what to do..A whore , used to be killed ...and the lovers , and the drunkers...But I tell you that if that happened , it happend for a period of time , because they were bad and God wanted to educate them...For e.g.a man who worked in forest during sabath..had to be killed. Some didn't agree with this punishment coming from God as I know...(they asked Him)and the Earth split and they fell inside the Earth...

But there were prophets ..who all the time have brought God's will, and the people disobeyed..sometimes obeyed ...

No , they never were suposed to kill their sons ....if it was ...it must have been for a very short period ..and only in a historical circumstances..but I advise you to ask an ortodox priest...I personal don't think it happened...They must have given laws defying God...actually , and taking advantage ..of their position..You must read very carefull and you must discuss with a specialist in the Old Testament, an ortodox ..I advise you..I interpretated wrong once ...the fact that some had many wives in Old Testament ..I was abou to die..thinking God allowed this..But a priest an theologue told me ..that this custom have come from the people who obeyed to idols coming from other side of the world,..given by demons...He said that only one wife was admitted by the true God of Israel since Adam and Eve,...

On the contrary, God punished them (with the consequences that happen even nowadays )for bringing their sons and daughter as a sacrifice to idols..actually to devils..because God has never asked for a sacrifice of a human being..he asked only for sacrifying only animals ..lambs , cows , doves...

So take care the way you interpretate the sayings of God...You must read the whole Bible from the bigining , to understand what Jesus says...his words..their meanings...

I believe your bible says they are to be stoned to death.

The best method of stoning your child is to bury your child up to his or her neck. Then grab stones about the size of modern bricks and hurl them at his or her head. Repeat this procedure until the skull is busted open and the brains are splattered everywhere.

No more bad child! God bless!

Back in the times if a child dishonored their parents then yes they were stoned to death. and they were usualy adults at that point. But Jesus put a stop to that and said let he who has not sinned cast the first stone.

Yes it does say that.

Yes the bible is ridiculous.

Most of it should be binned and only read an an ancient mythology.

Jesus had a few interesting things to say but we should try and separate the message from the superstitious hokum.

Yes it does

4) Jesus criticizes the Jews for not killing their disobedient children according to Old Testament law. Mark.7:9-13 "Whoever curses father or mother shall die" (Mark 7:10 NAB)

5) Jesus is criticized by the Pharisees for not washing his hands before eating. He defends himself by attacking them for not killing disobedient children according to the commandment: “He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.” (Matthew 15:4-7)

to the liar, i mean poser, i mean poster above me:

1) If one curses his father or mother, his lamp will go out at the coming of darkness. (Proverbs 20:20 NAB)

2) All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a capital offense. (Leviticus 20:9 NLT)

I like this one in Proverbs 23: 13-14

Do not withhold discipline from your child; If you punish him with the rod, he will not die. Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death.
