If a person is not proven guilty until there is enough evidence to prove he committed a crime... Then couldn't Christians use the argument that God exists until there is enough evidence to prove he does not?

I guess those who do not believe in a higher power could say it would work the other way as well "God does not exist until proven that he does".... but with the acceptance that "faith" is a true and valid human response/emotion... Then you would have to disprove faith first to use the argument in favor of him NOT existing.

Side note - Do those who do not believe in God have faith in things other than God? That is - In things that you cannot see?

Just thinking out loud. Please do not be rude or attack me personally. I value your opinion whatever view you hold.

Thanks!

Sure they do. They have not recognized it yet.

Say for instance:

Starting your automobile. You get in the car, you insert the key into the ignition and turn it and the vehicle starts. All this without ever thinking; "I wonder if my car is going to start or not?" The faith that was applied knowing it was going to start. But when the car fails to start, what happened to faith?

Each man / women has been given a measure of faith. It is where it is applied that actually counts.

An awfully lot of people think that God exists.

Just not the judgmental punishing God the Christians have dreamed up in their bible.

Almost the entire bible is made up of jewish Scripture that the jews see as an interesting oral history that has been recently edited and written down. They do not see it as the word of God at all.

Oddly, proof for The Christian idea that the bible is the word of God is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods word in their theology.

Doesn't it seem likely that the jews would have noticed that God was talking to them?

Love and blessings Don

I understand your argument, I see it like God does not exist until proven real.I put my faith in myself. If I want something I go out and find a way to get it. If I get sick I put my faith in Doctors. If things go wrong I don't look around for someone to blame, I just understand that sometimes life just doesn't go the way you want. Being a Christian for so long I can say that being an Atheist just makes me feel so much better inside then being a Christian did.

This analogy can be framed in two different ways. God is innocent (exists/doesn't exist) until proven guilty of existence/non-existence. It's all a matter of perspective and semantics. Therefore there is no real answer because the question is moot.

The difference is that belief is just accepting whatever is told to you about god without doing any research to see if the entire concept could possibly be wrong.

I assure that if anyone does some research on the scriptures and its teachings, they will find a lot of contradictions but the religious who want to believe it will ignore any facts that does not go in accordance with the bible. Thus they become ignorant

No youve got it backwards, christians always get things backwards, its no wonder christians are more likely to be dyslexic. Its guilty until proven innocent in the mind of a christian, why else do the majority of christians support the death penalty?

Oh and to those of you that think i dont know the mind of a christian, I know the mind of a christian because i was one for 25 miserable years. 7 denominations

Khemetic is right, on so many points:)

I have faith in lots of things. One thing I have faith in, there are no magic beings that answer prayers. I see no reason to want to belive in gods. If gods tease you all through life with a promise of good stuff if you obey, then torture you with life, they do not deserve to be followed anyway.

If that works for you , continue with it , as long as you live an honorable life .
As a Buddhist , no , I do not believe in a higher power in terms of authority . . . which is not saying that there are not more intelligent beings in the universe , but I do not subscribe to one that runs this planet .
