bothers people. I notice that when i answer a question using solid biblical principles, but paraphrase in my own words, people usally agree and like my answers. Rate them very high or even Best Answer. But when I give the EXACT same advice or answer but use the biblical references from which I am drawing upon, folks either dont like the answer or revile it. Basically same answer. Is it because folks subconciously recognise the wisdom in the Bible but dont want to acknowledge its authority? Makes one wonder, ya think?

for Valentine's Day? My hubby wants to know what I want. We discussed going in together and buying each other this big bookshelf we fell in love with, but is out of our price range normally. Should we do that or should I ask for another gift, like jewelry and buy him some electronic gadget or ipod accessory? If you have any gift ideas for me or him feel free to share. I just feel like hearing everyone's opinions. Thanks.

Why do westerners think it is retarded for women to wear scarves. If you have something precious like a diamond will you allow everyone passing by to touch it or you will keep it safe in a beautiful glass box? Women are most precious to God and wants to protect them
Actually hijab allows men to judge women not by their looks and bodies but by their brains. She is there in society but with decent nice looking modern clothes that cover her body without showing off her beauty except to her husband. What is wrong with that?
It is not a contest between women about bodies but about brains. Women are not commodities to be shown off but to be respected in the way people look at them and deal with them.

Several times in his pre- and post game speeches, Colts Coach Tony Dungy referred to 'the Lord' getting him (and Smith) where he was today.

In the UK something like this would get you some odd looks and if you mentioned 'the Lord' in your acceptance speech, you'd get at best, an embarassed silence.

Do you think this indicates greater differences between UK and US culture than might at first be evident, or is Tony Dungy unusual in voicing his beliefs so publicly?

And if the former, do you think such differences could ever make it difficult for the US and UK to communicate and cooperate together (ie if and when we get an atheist Prime Minister?)

Sensible answers please, because I'm really curious!

I was skipping through the high end of the Sky channels last night and found about 20 channels devoted to Christianity. Most of them featured slick looking preachers in expensive suits talking about how Jesus had saved them. Then I noticed something else they all had in common: numbers to call for people who wanted to make donations. This all sounded a bit hypocritical considering these guys where dressed to the nines and drove around in BMWs etc. One preacher even had the audacity to promise financial "blessings" if you donated $50. Another example of irony was the preacher who was talking about Jesus chasing the money lenders out of the temple, money being the root of all evil and the like, then asking for pledges!

I am guessing that a large percentage of these donations go to the preachers to keep them in a high rolling lifestyle. Should this be allowed? Surely a true Christian would not be concerned with all the flash and pomp. Also, who pays these guys? Thoughts please :)

Why dont islamic men have to cover up to protect their modesty and girls get 4 husbands if there are more guys then girls?

2007-02-04 23:18:42 · 18 answers · asked by Anonymous in Religion & Spirituality

Instead of girls having to cover themselves up in islamic countries to avoid guy pouncing on them and treateing them bad & attacking them like ithe veil is some sort of protection.

There is nothing wrong in looking and wanting to be with a girl.

As long as you dont do it in a nasty way and only if the girls wants you back.

Incidently why dont the guys have to cover up?

Why not educate boys into respecting girls even if naked

And respecting their right to pull guys and sleep with more then one just like the guys do.

Funny how in nudist camps and even swinger parties. The guys dont all pounce and rape the women.

Yet in islamic countires a girl simply showing their face gets them harrased or dead

As for viewing women as sex objects in the western world.

Well don't you realise girls do it with guys too like in boy bands, diet coke ads, etc.

And that the girls can be paid a fortune for simply being a girl.. so how is that exploiting

its not

So, we've all heard the thoughtful and well-thought out (sarcasm) arguments by the religious right that homosexuality is a choice. My question is, unless a person has been confronted by that choice, how would they know? I mean, are they basically admitting that they've been tempted to have a same-sex relationship? What do you think?

So they turn to religion to find comfort? Could Atheists (and atheist-to-be) be the only ones confident, strong, moral and principled enough to accept the truth and move forward in their lives?

Jesus said love God with all your heart and love and forgive everyone.Paraphrased If you do those 2 you have obeyed all the commandments. So a Christian means you believe what Jesus said so how then is it possible to go against Jesus and go to war to kill others Killing is not loving it is hating and that is what the devil wants. You can not have it both ways You either are a Christian and love or you are on satans side and destroy what God created. If you say something like well the Bible said an eye for an eye Jesus said that is not what I say He said love everyone and forgive everyone. Thank you and may God bless all
