God does love you, but he is not a mental concept, he is an experience.
To find god, you must find a way of letting go of thought. It is impossible to have an experience and a thought in the same moment.
Simply sit quietly and erect for a few minutes each day. Gradually the mind will quieten, your fears will melt and you will come to a calm place. When your thoughts finally stop (and there is nothing you can do to make that happen!) you will find god, love, peace, belonging, something that is quite beyond words.
The moment you begin thinking again the experience will be gone, but you will know forever that it is there and you can return.
You are a beautiful gift to the world. Let go of the fear, open your heart and let the love flood out.
