When they say that the bible is "God's living word" incapable of being edited, added to, subtracted from or changed in any way? Wouldn't that make all versions of the bible identical?

You who believe in Darwins THEORY (and thats all it is!), you who believe the Scientists who go afer the HOW of what God created, consider this: If we received a single message from another planet, we would believe in intelligent extraterrestrial life forms...
...yet in a single cell we have ample messages pointing to a Creator, but we ignore His existence. And yet you call Christians brainwashed??!!

Round the g-friend's last night, waiting for her to get ready. I was sat lounging in front of the TV and noticed there were two magazines on the coffee table in front of me.

I had a choice between Top Gear magazine (about cars), which would have usually been just my thing; or, there was an Ikea catalogue. After a moments thought I reached for the catalogue and started flipping through the pages, searching for the right living room furniture for my first place.

Is this a sign of shifting life patterns?!

Thanks

My new wireless enabled lap top can pick up other peoples networks in my appartment block.

I know it is possible to connect to these thus removing my need to buy a router and a broadband connection.

I do not think it is illegal to do this but is it morally OK?

It won't cost the network owner anything so what is the etiquette around these situations?

Would you have a problem with an atheist person claiming that they are a Christian? That they believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ but do not believe that there is an almighty god (or rather no gods at all).

I think that Jesus' teachings of forgiveness and understanding could be taken to heart despite disbelief that he is the son of a god (or God himself).

What do you think?

Before anyone suggests that this is blasphemous, think about what you're saying. If someone doesn't believe in gods how can they.. blaspheme?

I'm beginning to think we are rather troublesome young adults who really ought to leave the nest and go seek their fortunes, and let Mama have a little rest. She'll take care of the old folks if you just give her a break.

What do you think? How old is the Human Race in this metaphor?

Sure they invented algebra and a few other things, but these things happened centuries ago. What contributions have muslims made to the world recently and if muslims have made a lot of contributions, why aren't they being recognized by the muslim community? It would be nice to hear a muslim talk about something recent rather than somebody inventing something in the year 1200 AD.

Just like Islam, Christianity has been the source of much killing in the world, as well as misogyny and hate of the body and sexuality. It has also fostered an Imperial mission which destroyed many lives and killed ways of life, just like the Western world thinks that Muslims are taking away their way of life. As an atheist, I think it is hypocritical the way in which Christians disregard their own history when abusing and disrespecting another religion. Why can they not accept the evils of their own religion instead of projecting the same criticisms on that of another? Shouldn't they just keep their mouths closed? And also, is the secular point of the view the only legitimate one in this debate?

The first five books of the Old Testaments are known as the Torah in Judaism whereas the Old Testament as a whole is sacred to Christians.
What exactly are the differences in interpretation?
I mean, can someone explain to me how are two religions which believe in the same book so different that one attaches divinity to Jesus and the other sees him as a good Jew (while the followers of this Jew are Christians)?
Just want to resolve my ambiguities while understanding the two religions; I like to look for similarities across religions and try to understand the differences.
Thank you for your patience.

Why is it that when someone is in a queue at the supermarket with a couple of items and the person with a full trolley load in front offers the person with a couple of items the chance to be served first, the response from the person with a couple of items is 'Are you sure?'? Surely if the person with the trolley is not sure, he/she would not have offered!

Next time you offer to let someone go in front and he/she asks 'Are you sure?', say 'Acutally, no. I was just kidding!' and that'll teach him/her not to ask next time!

That they have never read it or they know nothing at all about it? Many people here who dispute Christianity have mentioned they left because they didn't agree with it. Obviously, there is knowledge involved for that to happen.

That makes for so-called 'radical feminism' today just because she has an opinion? What happened to free speech and freedom of religion? Seems like some people would prefer we all go back to those times when men had so much power they didn't know what to do with it.
