Sure they invented algebra and a few other things, but these things happened centuries ago. What contributions have muslims made to the world recently and if muslims have made a lot of contributions, why aren't they being recognized by the muslim community? It would be nice to hear a muslim talk about something recent rather than somebody inventing something in the year 1200 AD.

Unfortunately after the Mongols raided Khwarizmi ( while it was part of Muslim country ) because of a mistake by the Sultan.. things went downhill from there...
People got further from Islam and created many superstitions and it seemed like they went back to the pre Islamic era..ever since Muslims and Arabs were too busy in their own mess to actually do something good for their nation and the world..
Until now we have many things to worry about than scientific inventions..Although some Muslim countries are trying to get back on the track and fix things, such as Saudi Arabia, Dubai ...
Anyway Many Muslims talk about the great civilization partly out of pride and partly out of reminder to other Muslims on how we were and what happened to us and that we should go back to our Golden Age..

U are only thinking of the present and forget the past. The Muslims always feel very grateful for what they have NOW and always proud to tell the world about the past invention and inovation. It is because of the wisdom and the invention of the people of the past centuries that make us able to enjoy today's facilities and infrastructures, otherwise, we may remain primitive until today. No telephone, no computer, no aeroplane, and etc. U will never be born in this entire world without the people who was born before U - your parent. As such, be grateful and don't forget the past.

I guess when you done nothing to new to talk about ppl brag about their past. one as a way to keep proud and second to maybe try motivate presents muslim to stop liiling each other and try to build a new legacy(which will never happen). Also most the contributions were from muslims not arabs.

It would be nice if Christians would talk about something besides a guy who allegedly lived 2000 years ago.
