I just feel like I have no culture as such, nothing obvious anyway. Britain seems to be getting more and more multicultural, which is good in a way but I feel like, as a born and bred Brit, with ancestors the same, I barely have a culture at all!

This was a debate I was just having with some lunch-mates. One person posited that you can because agnosticism simply implies lack of sufficient knowledge to make an informed decision about something (in this case the existence of a higher power/God) and that atheism falls under a different umbrella entirely as a non-belief in God. So he says you can believe there is no God and at the same time acknowledge that there is not sufficient evidence to prove he exists and that the two are not irreconcileable.

I on the other hand said you cannot be both atheistic and agnostic because, as an agnostic, while you acknowledge the lack of evidence to prove God exists you must also logically acknowledge that there is not sufficient evidence to prove God does NOT exist. Atheist have made a definite decision on this point where agnostics leave open the possibility for God's existence while never actually saying whether God is real one way or the other. Thoughts?

im a black person- originally my family is from Jamaica. i just came bck frm sch today, and dere was a fight. Da girls were all sayin, " we're only gonna tlk"...... one of da girls ended up with a coco on her head and she was drenched in mud.

Our generation thinks that everything can be resolved in fightin and cussin ppl down.Do we really want dese half-idiots, tag named, ghetto wannabees, running da streets? NO! we should be striving for achievements, not how many girls we can mash or how many ppl we bang up! im black myself, and im sorry to say its mostly the teens of ethnic origin that are causing all dis rubbish to happen. we dont need the gangs, the generals, the tag names and the mashed gash. First we need to concentrate on our education and achievements. I just want our generation to get our priorities straight, before we fall any deeper in to the stereotypical title of "BLACKS UNDERACHIEVEING"

i like being an atheist not just because i have no need for god but also i have no need for organised religion. i prefer to have the freedom to run my own life. so Humanists confuse me they call themselves athiests yet seem to like organised religion. surely the existance of organised religion is worse then the potential existance of some form of god?

I find it nauseating when I see the word of God handled so deceitful and promiscuously.I have decided to take a stand.I have been on Yahoo for a very short time now,but my eye's have been openned. No wonder the world looks at the christian realm the way they do. I will rebuke all man made doctrines, so if it's not in the Bible don't say it.If you can't find it well start reading. To the true and faithful I covet your prayers. How many are willing to share in this and start speaking the truth , BY THE WORD OF GOD ? Will you set iddily by or stand up for Jesus ?

what will god say when us non-believers see him and we ask him. god, how could you allow your followers to rape women and murder men and children. how could you give permission to your chosen to murder others. how come you created evil? how come you punish us for your creation of the tree and ingraved in us the lack of knowledge of right and wrong? how could u suffer 42 youths to be mauled by a bear? how could you drown so many? how can you do all this and then not forgive us for not beleiving this one religion out of 10,000?

do you think god will merely say, "im god, i can do what i want?"

what do you think he would say?

I mean history was fought for so long and intensely over these things and then it just seems to disappear into thin air almost.

I know Irish Catholics still are serious about it, but who else?

Why do you think people have so turned away from attending church?
What is the reasons?

It's a little late for us to change our behaviour after we are already dead.

And there is no deterrent effect since no one witnesses the punishment so what is the point?

Same goes for postmortem rewards.

I have a brother that been diagnoised with a kidney problem. He is concerned about his health and wants to know how do a regular kidney function? He thinks that he is not in a chronic kidney -end stage renal disease. He was diagnoised with it through some blood work. He only has one kidney and found out at the age of 57.
After seeing doctors for many years and wondering why he was never told of this one kidney.

Should he get a second opinion? Is all chronic kidney problems as told considered end stage renal disease. He wants an organization that can help with most of his question about his problem. They immediately put him on dialaysis after the blood test saying that he got examined just on time and would have died if if he waited 2 more weeks. He feels his kidneys before and now awas always working fine. They makes mistakes like taking more bblood than required blaming it on the kidney machine. What can a person do in a situation like this. Any and all answers will be accepted.

Many church people preach a kind of spontaneous salvation; which is achievable (at one fell swoop) by exclaiming deep emotional belief, and even romantic adulation of Jesus -- presumbly quaranteeing them a seat in Heaven, while the issue of sin vs. righteousness seems less important. If Jesus really were more interested in your adulation above all else (and would even exile to Hell righteous people who do not demonstrate a sufficient level of adulation, or are not fully aware of his greatness), does this perhaps suggest a Jesus who is egocentric?
Why are there religious doctrines that portray him thus?

I am still thinking of the usages of in/for/during.
It seems to be OK to say,
"I'm going to get a driver's licence in spring", doesn't it?
Do you also say, 'during (the) spring'?

If "get a driver's license in spring" is OK, why not to say "get a driver's license in (the) summer vacation"?

Or, what difference does it make when there is 'the' before 'summer vacation' or not?

Thanks a lot!

I am doing a project for religion class, and I need to get images that go with a theme, but I don't know what to do for these themes:

Be Honest (truthfulness)
Be Faithful (trust)
Be Just (justice)
Be Alive: The fith commandment
Be Obident (obidience)

Does anyone have any ideas about what pictures/images I can use to represent those themes?

Jesus is quoted in the bible (Matthew 21:21) as saying, "...if ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done."

Yet, in all of human history, NOBODY (not even Jesus according to the bible) has every moved a mountain and cast it into the sea.

Is it because nobody (not even Jesus) has ever had enough faith? Or was Jesus just making this up?
