Jesus is quoted in the bible (Matthew 21:21) as saying, "...if ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done."

Yet, in all of human history, NOBODY (not even Jesus according to the bible) has every moved a mountain and cast it into the sea.

Is it because nobody (not even Jesus) has ever had enough faith? Or was Jesus just making this up?

You can have as much faith as you like but you will never move a pencil nevermind a mountain. How can you have faith in something for which there is not the slightest shred of evidence. Would you just believe and have faith if someone said they had learned how to fly or would you question and doubt it? Well why not do the same thing with Jesus and the bible.

if you did not take metaphorically and as a symbolism for our lives there is actual seory that happened and a mountain was moved from its place . This incident happened here in Cairo,Egypt between 975-978 AD ( I do not know the year exactly) it happened when one of the assistants of the ruler of Egypt tried to to make the ruler to ban the christians from going to the churches so he told him that there is a verse in the Bible says that if somebody have a face without doubt he will move a mountain and there is a mountain here at the borders of Cairo that at that time separated it from other governs and it needed a big deal to go around it to enter Cairo so tha assistant succeeded to convince the ruler to tell the Pope , whose name was Afraim , that if the christians could not succeed to move the mountain he would not declare christianty as a religion and would punish any christian and gave them a 3 days period and after them they had to move the mountain so the pope called for a fasting and prayers for all the 3 days for all the christians asking for God help and mercy and at the end of the 3 days God guided the pope to a very simle man , in his life and believe deeply in God and in every word in the Bible . The pope went to this man , his name is Simon , and at the time both the pope and this man and all the christians wented to the mountain and there the ruler and his assistant were waiting for them and this man and all the christians began to pray . What happened that the mountains raised up high in the sky before moving aside from its place . You may not believe or not but whether you believe or not wouldnot affect the verse or the story . The verse is true metaphorically and unmitaphorically and this incident did really happen and that you lack faith doesnot mean that nobody ve faith on the contrary there are people that ve strong faith that can do miracles and move mountains . Also the verse doesnot mean that even if you ve faith everything you ask for must come true it depends on the need the time and the place as in this story the mountain was moved bec there was a need for its movement . Do not look just for a single verse but for the whole to understand . It is about not only about faith but faith , need , the right time and place, wisdom , general good and benefit for al the people

Jesus was saying that nothing with God is impossible. However, may I point out that it doesn't take a LOT of faith to move mountains in our lives.. Only a grain of mustard seed. You either have faith (no matter how small) or you don't. Like being a little pregnant. If you have any faith at all, you have enough faith to move a "mountain".
If anyone ever tried to move an actual physical mountain with "faith" they were just being self-important. Altho I'm not saying it's impossible at all.
Jesus often used parables and allegory to explain faith.

Now, explain to me why Jesus or anyone would want to cast a mountain into the sea in the 1st place?

Jesus was not here to move mountains, but to move human hearts. If anyone had so much faith in faith and had that power, I do not think they would use it for that, so it was a metaphor for having extreme power with God, than actually doing something like casting any mt. anywhere.

I had that question too before.
I think its unfair to say to Jesus"pull the bunny out of the hat and i'll believe you"
Maybe the mountain is there for a reason,

Mountains have been moved, just not by magic

Maybe it was because no one ever needed to move a mountain. Jesus didn't make anything up. He is Jesus! Maybe he was just giving us an example of what how we can do all things thru HIM.

I think he was making a point. If you think of the reason to move a literal mountain that wouldn't mean uprooting people and houses etc. and creating more problems that it solves let me know. Otherwise you might just use your faith to move metaphorical mountains. I'm sure you can think of plenty of examples of those being moved.

And just why would you want to, if you could?

Anyone that had the knowledge of this kind of faith or power would also understand that the consciousness of this action usually would far out weigh the benefits of doing so.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Jesus said it! I believe Him!! That settles it for me!!! Jesus is telling us what His Father God has provided for us (those who BELIEVE)!!!
Hebrews 11:1 says, "FAITH is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for, the EVIDENCE of things not YET seen."
Satan IS the God of this world...the Bible says so, and he is the king of deception! The Bible tells us that his job is to STEAL, KILL and DESTROY! And he has done a "bang up" job of deceiving those who are ignorant of God's Word and ALL ITS promises to us. He's helped some into looking at their circumstances rather than looking at the blessings He's provided. People get into the Word of God! Find out for yourself exactly what IS AVAILABLE to BELIEVERS! Have FAITH, stand on what you find is yours as a born again Child of God! GOD LOVES YOU!!! He wants you to have joy.❤️
