I just feel like I have no culture as such, nothing obvious anyway. Britain seems to be getting more and more multicultural, which is good in a way but I feel like, as a born and bred Brit, with ancestors the same, I barely have a culture at all!

So what if I'm not in a cave period?? I'm not talking about the kind of tribe that kills people and represses them, I am talking about people who like the same things and have the same sort of aims. And I don't exploit or look down on poorer countries. I do all I can. I don't think you can possibly judge me from one question on a website.

As an American, I feel that way sometimes, too. Our "customs" have all but lost their meaning.

We have tribes here, and they are called gangs.

We are designed to be tribal. It is only in that last few hundred years, that man has gone out on his own, and I believe this is causing problems for us. In a tribe, there was a place for everyone, and whatever skills a person had, were used thankfully, by the tribe. Everyone was backed up by, and considered family, by the rest of the tribe. those who were good at hunting, hunted for the tribe., Those good at making things, made things for the tribe. everyone worked together for the benifit of the tribe, and felt a sort of brother and sister hood. Even earlier towns and villages, were pretty tribal. These days, it has become everyone for themselves, just to survive. people are being left out, to make their way however they can, with no help. and no acknowledgement of their strengths and qualities. I have been thinking about this lately, and apparently others have too. I have noticed that some folks are buying up property, now, and getting others to come and live there, in a sort of neo-tribe, to help people feel that sort of brotherhood again. Not really a commune, but more of a community, that has each others backs. This makes sence to me, as I dont belive our governments have our backs. We will have to re-tribe, if we want these benefits. Some folks, who cant understand what you're talking about here, are not people you would want in your tribe, anyway. You cant lead a horse to water. They have to find it themselves.

I believe that everyone to some extent believe that their way is the best way. Given the choice, who would not want to lead a group or form a tribe.

you are your own tribe. I understand the need to belong to a group- it's in us- but these days, you distinguish yourself through your personal behaviour or culture. Good luck!

Sure you do silly....You have the British culture. What did the ancient Brits do that's still practiced today? E.g:- the foods they ate, the holidays they observed......etc
